Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – Unbounded – July 12, 2022

I like homemade churned ice cream but somewhere in our moves, I lost the maker. The kids loved cranking the handle! I just found one like we had and look at the price 😳😂. What the dickens? (Yes, Grantchester is back and better than ever). A few frozen yogurts are tasty but I prefer creaminess and I don’t need toppings to enjoy.

1. Maple walnut is my favorite
2. Real strawberry – homemade
3. Gelato. Any flavor. So smooth and creamier than ice cream
4. Coffee
5. Butter pecan

Most of the time I don’t post much about writing because I do not consider myself a writer or an author—certainly, which I see in my comments section? I don’t like following too many rules when writing; to me it takes the fun out of it.
I would never assume I had the talent to write a book, etc and admire those who can and do. My blog is just a blog, hopefully entertaining at times giving you a laugh, or letting you inside my “inner sanctum” which is a term I probably heard in an old horror movie when a child. I like to laugh and enjoy reading. I read a lot of serious things and need an outlet to keep my mind from going into depression in the world I see today.
Summing it up, I would say I enjoy scribbling, not making a JOB out of it. And as far as editing goes—it’s a blog! Give yourself a break—we all make mistakes, just enjoy the overall meaning.

Joe liked all of his neighbors and most of them he considered friends. Most of the men were what he considered (retrograde) family men, meaning they agreed with him that the best attributes a wife could have would be to please their husbands. A sudden emergence of this group of “housewives” starting a book club during weekdays when they should have been at home cooking and cleaning, was seen as a threat to Joe and others. Then the prolific appearance of slacks adorning them even while conducting their shopping seemed too bold a move. Where were the nice, discreet women? “This was 1950 for Pete’s sake!”

People assume because my legs don’t work my brain doesn’t either. I admit I sit in a wheelchair. If I am accompanied by someone, I’m never looked at or spoken to directly. It is diminishing and frustrating, but after having to sit in one for ten years now, I am used to it, which doesn’t acquaint with resigned.

With the monsoon like storm brewing its cruel magic outside the library, Joe thought it best to curb his impulse to dash out for a coffee. The library offered a small line of coffees but none were his favorite.
He initially entered the facility on a hunch Helen would be there. He didn’t try to disguise himself, but he kept a fair distance away, hoping to blend in. He didn’t want her thinking he was trying to stalk her; he was just fascinated.
With a flickering sigh as he watched her in the romance section, his thoughts turned to a fantasy of them together. It was then he leaned back too strongly on the stacks and a huge thud broke into the silence.
Helen immediately reacted with a jolt and dropped the book she was holding. Fortunately, an embarrassed Joe realized his opportunity and rushed over to pick up her book. The rest is history☺️

Entering the huge space, she was excited to see all the vendors’ booths. It was a shopping trip for their new venture and this goods exchange was a base for novice store owners. All booths were inviting and offering value for their products. The most impressive were the jewelry sales. Her eyes were agog seeing the base prices of a few pieces of jewelry she had purchased for herself in the past. No wonder there were so many jewelry stores remaining in failing malls- markup!
