MLMM Wordle #123

There was always pressure in Mr. Petersen’s classroom. He put the assignments on the chalkboard, and then promptly sat down and observed. What transpired after that was up to the student. Sometimes it was only a sentence, sometimes a lugubrious story suggestion, or quote. Mr. Petersen’s English class was for the more talented creative writing students. His teaching methods were considered beyond reproach by the administration, but caused harsh criticism by the parents.

Students who excelled in English were not fond of Mr. Petersen. He allowed no disruptions and after writing his words on the board, sat at his desk, leaning over the top of his writing kit. Anyone asking a question would receive a silent sneer. If a parent asked to withdraw their child from the class, the student would receive an immediate failing grade for that day. Angry parents soon learned to let their child suffer the rest of the semester.

What Mr. Peterson decided after years of teaching, was that expecting creative minds to work required strict discipline. His methods were simple and demanded imaginations to expand.

Haunted Wordsmith Genre Challenge 1

Oh, Reginald, I feel faint.

Oh, Lucinda, I feel. . .well, may I say, invigorated?

Oh, yes, I feel it too.

Let us retire to the library, it’s private there.

I. . .well, what will our guests think? And how can we. . .walk in there like this?

Just stay pressed against me, and we’ll tango over to the door.

Oh, Reginald, please be discreet.

Discreet? Now you ask that? Just slide with me.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 3

He drove as fast as he could. Not caring if he broke any laws–he had broken enough already, his life was now shattered. He slammed into his driveway and ran up the steps. His wife was just sitting at the kitchen table, seemingly calm and unperturbed. She looked around, seemed startled by her husband’s sudden appearance. Looking panicky and peculiar, she was immediately afraid something terrible had happened to him.

“Oh my god, what happened? Are you alright?” Mary got up and walked to her husband. He looked terrible, sweaty and afraid. John looked at her, incredulous. Could she not have seen the text? Did she answer the phone? How could she be so calm? He stumbled into the kitchen chair, not believing his luck. Maybe she didn’t know!

Mary calmly sat by him and coolly remarked, “oh, you thought I didn’t know about you and Sheila? I’ve known for quite some time, John. Sheila and I are friends, of a sort. I met her through another friend. We now own a business together. We investigate people who cheat on their spouses. I was her first client.”

MLMM Tale Weaver -212 – Fairytale

A Saturday evening, and Lucy’s parents were out. Lucy was trying to finish her book when she heard a thump on her window.

That night her parents had hired someone new to watch over Lucy. Marly was not the typical babysitter any parent would choose. Having a last minute obligation to entertain a client, Lucy’s parents called a service to find and hire Marly.

Unfortunately Marly completely ignored her charge, put Lucy to bed at 7 and proceeded to veg out on the sofa with headphones, texting her boyfriend. If any problem arose, she would be unaware.

Lucy did what she was told, got into bed with one request, to keep her lamp on to read for a while. Marly just shut the door and cared not what Lucy did as long as she was undisturbed.

At hearing the thump, Lucy went to look out her window to see a fairy on the ledge. The fairy looked hurt, apparently had broken her wing on the window. Lucy gently picked her up and sat her and the wing on her bureau. She ran to her bathroom and came back with some tape and ointment. When she returned, the wing had been reattached and the fairy seemed magically healed.

Lucy just stared in wonder as her mind realized the entire happening was real. She looked to see her book, “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” was laying open on her pillow. As she turned back, the fairy had turned into a figurine. Lucy could only stare at it, wondering if she had fallen asleep and dreamed the event.

The next morning Lucy saw the figurine on her bureau and wondered what had really happened. She went to the window and there was a tiny feather. She decided not to tell anyone about what went on, and kept the fairy figurine close to her every night.

As Lucy grew up, if ever needed, the fairy would come to life. It was the ancient code of fairies, to protect children.

Case Closed

Well it’s lucky they’ve got us on the case, right Harry?

You said it, Joe. These young whippersnappers couldn’t find a crook if their life depended on it!

Well it’s not like the old days, when the perpetrators were smart. Hell, these days, crimes are committed all the time! It takes real police work, boots on the ground stuff, right?

Yup, and real evidence, otherwise you can’t solve the case, and then sometimes it’s the lawyers. It’s a different world out there, Joe. Glad to be working with you. We have been learning this craft for over twenty years, can you believe it? And it is a craft. You have to have a nose for it. You can’t sit at a computer and solve crimes, right, Joe?

(Joe’s cell beeps with a text informing him the guilty party was just located on 5th and Stevens Ave.) The two detectives shrugged and got back into the car. Arriving at the precinct, they discover a street traffic cam caught the entire crime, thus solving it.

SoCS – 3-2-19

March is coming in like a lion so the couple of warmer days we just had are done. We could use the moisture here in town. Our color scheme is in the browns. I’m ready for a change.

The prompt is cele and since I’ve just finished watching the series “Lucifer” where the cast includes celestial beings, I’ll go with that. My favorite celestial “items” are stars.

Hope you all have a beautiful weekend! : )

50 Word Thursday – Left to Right

The four brothers always traveled together. A paradoxical group, but stayed together enjoying an adventure each summer. The oldest, Sam was the leader, destinations his specialty. Jeremy, the athlete, made sure the trips included physical challenges. George was the caretaker and little Charlie, the youngest, was in charge of entertainment.
