Evidence of greatness

Looking out my window
I see the beauty
Unbothered white blankets
Dipped and folded so softly
The summer stream now icy green –
Reflections from the evergreens
Now only slightly dusted where
The evening’s snowflakes remain
In the cold Vermont countryside.
I first saw him on the Graham Norton show last week. He sang this song and I tried to find that performance, no luck. But! This gives you an idea of the overall . . .(hot). . .performance. : )

Ever forward, no matter the icy wind against my garments, providing a modicum of warmth. I will not be daunted. My quest is sure, my object clear. I must be the one. It is destined, our future together. Only a short distance now, my goal in sight. Her rescue imminent, then the prophecy fulfilled.

I admit it
Out in the open
I love a man
In uniform
Something attracts
Something stirs
Causing acts
Causing whirs
Most any type of “suit” will do
Red, white, black or blue
Wonder about the man inside
Does he have anything to hide?
Possibly, but I confess
It’s the uniform I love best!

She sneaked into the courtyard after everyone else was asleep. It was her nightly routine, to dangle a green cloth over the lowest branch of the cherry tree, there for only him to see. He would wait for it every evening; it was the attractancy of the simple gesture that stirred him. Seeing it was almost a bolt of lightning surging through him anticipating their union. Sixteen year olds falling in love in medieval times was not unusual, although arranged only through strict family decisions.
Each night she was excited to place the tiny signal that meant they would meet again. They both treasured these secret rendezvous. If discovered, the forbidden relationship would cause perturbation in their parents’ eyes. The young lovers knew in their hearts the parents would disapprove, considering the young couple’s wishes mere folly. The lovers were unconcerned with pleasing their elders. They remained determined and proceeded to meet again.

Bobby the bulb was a pesky little guy. He was always trying new things, stirring up trouble and being a general nuisance. His parents, two ceiling lights that had hoped to be chandeliers one day, had finally given up their dreams and spent most of their time trying to keep Bobby under control.
It all started when he figured out he could light himself without the usual electric cord connection. He had seen his older brothers use batteries to light their flashlight bodies, so why not try it himself? Bobby sneaked into the garage and found a box of old parts from a 1980 model cable tv device. He decided to modify it a bit and found he was no longer inhibited by a cord. He could plug himself in at any outlet and the device charged him for about ten hours. It allowed him to play whenever and wherever he wanted.

She wore them only twice
Now they’re stuffed and looking nice
Those societal days are over
Dances now only in clover
Barefoot is the way to choose
No shoes required, so let them loose
Shoes just squish the toes you see
Now they are free, dance easily
Stuffy shoes for stuffy people
She’d rather trip in scented tepals.

She did it well
Her juggling act
They thought it swell
Until walking back
All was going according to her plan
When someone in back turned on the fan
The balls start falling in reverse
Julie was acting quite perverse
The orbs descended on the crowd
Causing frightened screams aloud
Juggling Julie tried hard to recover
But her stage presence was now over.
