The first thought with this Prompt was The Old Man of the Mountain in New Hampshire. Growing up in Vermont I saw him like this:
I am sad to say that in 2003 nature finally took its course and the visage was lost.

Nightmarish newts you say? I thought I’d better check these out. Being a science teacher, I try to provide little Halloween treats for my students and I overheard one of my students whisper this to another child. I decided to research this phenomena.
Imagine my surprise as I began looking for newt information. I am a teacher of general science, not a herpetologist. I discovered newts, especially Taricha granulosa is extremely poisonous! I guess bringing them into the classroom would be dangerous and my students would want to touch them and that might kill a child through skin toxins. Nightmarish newts indeed!
However, I will make some frosted cookies in newt colors, and sprinkles for a harmless treat. But then, all the gluten free, sugar free kids would want one too! Then some parents might protest thinking I’m gay because I like to bake treats for the kids in my class, or the save the newt people might think I’m making fun of them or. . .What’s a teacher to do these days?

Shopping for my newest addiction, Perfect Peach tea bags, sorry, I know bagged tea is a no no for some across the pond. . .but during my latest move, I lost my tea leaf holder ball so only use bags now. A side note, I used to read tea leaves in cups, that was fun.
Back on point, I was at Safeway and they didn’t have my choice so I purchased Organics Peach Oolong tea instead. I made a cup at home right away only to find no peach flavor at all. It was pleasant, slightly floral but no peach. This morning I let it steep longer and it was good, but still no peach.
I decided to write the company and ask what’s up and started looking up oolong and found some interesting facts about it. Intriguing, as there are health benefits to oolong according to most sources, but then WebMD had a list of hazards if you consume more than three cups a day. Btw, I usually have two cups of hot tea a day if I’m chilly, so guess I’m safe.
I think the warnings the W. site posted are a little overboard, but if you decide on drinking a huge amount of any tea, you should probably check them out. Oolong tea is from China of course and was accidentally discovered by a farmer, great story on the net.
I’ll use this tea and add it to my drawer where I have others such as Earl Grey, Plantation Mint, Cinnamon, and Chai. Waaaay back I drank Constant Comment which tastes similar to the now popular Chai, in my opinion.
Now I’m just going to chill with my tea. Have a great Saturday!
🎃🎃
In the woods things might be seen
All different colors, mostly green
But in October, things do change
Leaves of trees show a colorful range
And though bright, rusty, crunchy or soft
They don’t compare to a fairy’s froth.
Fairies and sprites and creatures unseen
Are friendly at first, but not what they seem
And if by chance you step on their wings
Even by accident, their wrath it brings
Their previously imagined fairy visage
Is now a scary and threatening image
There seems to be an unusual foam
That spouts from their gaped mouth form
It’s putrid and green with shades of black
Might look bloody from a hidden sack
You step lively and leave the trees
You trip and fall, land on your knees
The fairy’s froth spit near your shoes
The ground it lands shows acidic ooze
You get up and run and never look back
Grimm Brothers stories never did lack
In testing the scope of imagination
But never wrote of this confrontation.

A lot going on here this weekend. Kids coming home from college. . .yay! A very cool looking tattoo for one of them, looks too painful for me, yikes!

Looking up traditional family recipes for my kids and printing them out, for I doubt they could read some of my old scribbled ones or recipe cards with upside down and cornered notes. Well used, well because I’m ancient of course.
At this time of year pumpkin products abound and the age old question comes up, the can or fresh? The prices of pie pumpkins, those little ones, is bad, but after a necessary jack-o-lantern or two, who can afford them? And then will they be ripe or sour or bitter or spoiled inside? All must be considered to use in recipes. Whereas a can of pumpkin or purée is sufficient. The seeds of the pumpkin are a great treat dried or baked with salt. Which do you choose?
🎃🎃🎃🎃Happy almost Halloween!🎃🎃🎃🎃

Okay I’m not looking at it. I’m not even trying to look at it at all. I just might see it out of the corner of my gorgeous eyes, but, no, I’m not looking at it. I’m not! I am sitting here gazing in the glass, by the way, you look beautiful today dahling. ..and. . .oh my gosh, there it is! Sorry, I tried not to, but it is right there!
Just concentrate on the glass, it’s barely visible in my direct eyesight, and I am soooo gorgeous to look at it, I could spend all day looking at nothing but my own reflection! But I did get a glimpse of it. That white spiral just sitting there waiting to be touched. If I just put my paw on the very tip of it. . .
“WHISKERS! What are you doing on that cabinet? You know you’re not allowed up there!”
If I just touched the top, just a little, it would be okay. I’ll just reach over and pat the top, just a bit.
CRASH!
Oh oh, now who thought that would happen? (Grinning) maybe now she’ll think twice about serving me that dried crap again, I want tuna!

My grandson Jesse and his dad are going as guests of MLB and Sharon Robinson at Fenway park in Boston for the Wednesday 10/24/18 game of the World Series, all expenses paid. Jesse won the grand prize for an essay contest put on by Jackie Robinson’s daughter Sharon. The contest promotes Jackie Robinson’s ideals. Wow!! I am excited but wish I was going too!!
If you watch, look for them. They are beyond excited to see Boston, MA and the famous Fenway baseball park.
