April Fool

I’ve been called a fool

A dolt, a comic

Most of my words

Might even cause vomit

But here I stand

In perfect view

Entertaining you.

My words are harsh

I’ll call anyone down

Ridicule and embarrass

They’ll agree and never frown

It’s my constant following

My gang of ne’er-do-wells

Numbers keep increasing

Blind acceptance swells

I feel like I am teflon

No matter what I do

But I am not surprised

About what I can say and do.

FFF Challenge 7

Sitting here at the coffee shop, enjoying my over priced latte, but it does look pretty doesn’t it? I have a seat at the window, watching the passersby hoping to find inspiration to write about one of them. Will it be forthcoming, with an important object, possibly worn, a bright scarf, slanted fedora, or an ancient cane?

And then my gaze drifts across the street through a momentary lapse of traffic. A homeless person, wrapped in a blanket even though the temperature is warm. I’m sure the blanket is a comfort, a shield against prying eyes, for there is no cup or hat or other receptacle. He is not asking for money. He’s just asking for that tiny paved place to rest.

A sad inspiration for a few words. I should leave this shop, cross the street, try to engage this person, ask how he is, if I could help in any way. . .but then my coffee would get cold.

Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #7

A to Z Challenge – A (nswers to Judy’s twelve questions)

  1. There are so many, for different reasons, don’t think I could choose…sexy comes in many forms. A guy who expresses himself would be my top choice, therefore, writers, song writers, poets would be first on my list.
  2. Cookies. I rarely make them because unless I farm them out to kids, I would eat them all. Same for French fries!
  3. My old closest friends would be surprised to find out I write a blog.
  4. The most famous person I ever met was Jesse Jackson at a Rainbow Coalition rally.
  5. I doubt having a famous person as a close friend would be very close.
  6. My biggest regret in life is not going to college.
  7. I’ve never had any strange pets but I used to care for some when I had that type of business.
  8. I have a brown silk blouse adorned with turquoise beading, etc and could never give it up even though I no longer wear it.
  9. This is a hard one. I have an apron my mother wore.
  10. Why wasn’t I ever good enough?
  11. I have been told I look like my mother but I don’t see it.
  12. Since I don’t walk, any footwear is rarely worn unless I’m going out of the house. I wear warm socks at home. Going out, something casual or boots.

Twelve Things I Would Most Like to Know About You

If at least twenty-five people answer these questions and either give a link to their blogs in comments below or send the answers to me via email, Facebook or Skype, I will have a drawing and contribute an amount equal to the number of responders (up to a limit of $100) to the winner’s favorite charity. Please let me know if you do not wish to have your answers published, as I might share some of them on my blog.  Okay, the race is on! I’m going to be very disappointed if no one plays along.

Who in your opinion is the sexiest man (if you are a woman) or woman (if you are a man) who ever lived?

What favorite food do you rarely eat and why?

What would your closest friends be most surprised to find out about…

Story Starter 29 – Homeschooling – an excellent choice

A few of my grandchildren have been and are homeschooled. With the environment of schools at this time it is an excellent alternative. More opportunities for education and exploring with added programs and multiple resources affect a complete education.

I’ve said this to my twelve year old granddaughter, who amazes me, thinking about being an astrophysicist, “Who are you, Einstein?”

Sunday Photo Fiction

This is how it looks today

No longer vibrant green

But that is how I remember you

Long fall days dreaming on benches

Feet shifting pine fronds around, avoiding

Speaking of the separation to come.

I often visit here

It used to be colorful,

Even the browns were green.

Now everything in my world is monotoned.
