Remember back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, even 90s when you had one computer—maybe? One telephone/cel phone, one television, one beeper or communication device?
Of course I do, because I’m old😂. My first cel phone was only a cheap safety device in case I took another fall when my legs gave out unexpectedly. I only started texting a few years ago and messaging and snap chat two years ago. I tried FB and T but hate both of them now and don’t use. I also tried Instagram for a brief time, yuck.
Okay you think, you’re old and old fashioned—I admit it. Instead of these types of communication which I personally think have been a detriment to relationships, why not take the time to actually look a person in the eye and speak? Possibly listen too?
Maybe then, these horrid outbursts you see and hear everyday would lessen because you are there, taking full responsibility for your words and actions, not hiding behind one of your multiple devices.

I am a lover of pie
No need to wonder why
I grew up with berries and fruit
My love is resolute
However my baking attempts
Probably breed contempt
So I bought some frozen shells
And the filling as well
No recommendation here
As in the jar I peered
“Looks weird” I said, thoughtfully
Not rhubarb remembered, plausibly
Tasted okay, but too mild
Not nearly like as a child
Let’s just say frozen shells are unyielding
Broke apart, so very unweilding
But I soldiered on
Placed the pie upon
A pristine blanket of foil
The top looks a bit strange
As I lifted it out of the range
But I’m not one to waste
So gave it a taste
Maybe I should have used “broil”?

Nope, no pics of this but it tasted okay, JUST okay😂
Now we have the Sijo, a Korean form believed to have first been used in the fourteenth century. It is similar in structure to various Japanese forms such as Haiku. As with many forms of poetry, the Sijo became a preferred poetry form of the yangban or ruling class as well as royalty. They were written in Chinese and were originally short songs set to music. The focus of the Sijo is usually nature and contemplation. We’ll try that to begin with.
You should use the word in the title of this post as your inspiration as either a theme of the Sijo or in the poem itself, yield.
There are: Three Lines
14-16 syllables per line
A total of 44-46 syllables for the entire poem.

Yield to a Hug
Why not yield to an offered feeling, it only takes a moment
Your body will rejoice this gift, of a loving embrace
You can keep this treasure with you, to endure coming storms

One of my favorite family films is “How to Train Your Dragon” shown by Dreamworks in 2010.

As always, Phil started to embellish his pain. “This red wax is impossible to navigate! When I found out I liked to dress in woman’s clothes I never thought about all the shaving!”
To Nina’s chagrin, she had no sympathy. Being a woman, she knew all too well the hurt of hair removal.

The Neighbor
My new apartment is in a building where the atmosphere resembles a hotel. Therefore I have a neighbor directly across from my “front” door that opens up into a hallway.
open, see Bobo
greeting ignored with menace
not liking wheelchairs

This week’s prompt is to write about an encounter with an animal. Go where the prompt leads.
