OOPS!

I’m sorry and I offer my apology. The record I reported is not upheld and it was sad not to notice my mistake. I offer only a taciturn excuse that my tired eyes sometimes see a number and then my mind makes an amenable effort to write it. It’s only after some type of security alerts me and I realize my error. Maybe I should change my moniker to “The OLD Bag Lady”. 🙄😂

One Liner Wednesday/A2Z Kids

I’ve probably used kids in previous years in an A to Z challenge but have to say they are a priority of mine, so here goes! I love kids and life is so much better being around them. Their hopeful outlook and positive energy rubs off on me and causes needed laughter and smiles. I am privileged to have three grown married kids and eight grandchildren—the oldest grandson now expecting my first great grandchild next month! Hallelujah! ♥️

Cemetery: Caution

bone! It was supposed to be located somewhere in the “Saints Preserve Us” cemetery, at least according to the book “Gorgeous Ghost” written by Joe Joker. Apparently he had found the bone on a stormy day back in ‘55 and wrote about his experience, and anyone who held this bone would be visited by a beautiful, if not strangely ethereal, ghost.

Many a man had tried the quest and failed, or disappeared shortly after. The facts were a bit sketchy because no one took ghosts seriously. Their deaths had been reported as “natural” and the coroner’s accounts had been blacked out in certain spaces. Joe, now also passed to the great beyond, wrote about his personal experience with the bone but so far no one else had found it and Joe left no directions or map, only that it was originally found in the SPU cemetery. Was the bone cursed? Would you have a momentary pleasure with a beautiful ghost? Only Joe’s shadow knows.

dVerse Poets Prosery

This evening I would like you to write a Prose piece which includes the line:
“Talk what you please of future spring and sun-warm’d sweet tomorrow.” – from the poem A Daughter of Eve by Christina Rossetti.
Please also include the dVerse link in your published piece.

“Talk what you please of future spring and sun-warm’d sweet tomorrow”, but save a dream of winter for me. Bright blue clear skies with clouds brushed away by strong breezes, take my breath on a morning walk. Old skates now jostling over my well padded shoulder blades from layered sweaters and heavy coat, have been sharpened to dangerous blades. A shovel in my mittened hand, always ready to make short work of the frozen pond’s skiff from previous night’s snow, and I pause to take it in. An every day adventure; a simple, solitary respite inside a busy day of household chores. Scraping sounds of the spade pierce the pristine surroundings, and scatter a few crows previously resting silently on icy branches. I don the skates, secure long laces with bared hands, suddenly stiff from exposure. Then, awaited bliss as I begin to glide.

A2Z Jazz

I never thought much about jazz music until I attended a small club with friends in Denver years ago. The second time I heard a live jazz band was the UNC jazz band where my daughter’s fiancé was playing the trumpet. Initially I thought jazz players ruined tunes I liked with all their variations and then seeing it live changed my mind.

This past year I have been delighted seeing and listening to my granddaughter performing jazz pieces on her alto saxophone. She is in the high school jazz band and a quartet plus marching band and orchestra. I love her solos and listening to her accomplished smooth renditions even though she has only been playing the sax for a year.
