Who Can Resist this Challenge?😂 (Haunted Wordsmith)

********

“You know, Hazel, I just loooove these shopping days with you!”

“Not a week without them.”

“Yes, and such fun, right? I mean having you for a friend just makes my year!”

“Yes, Madge, I know.”

“And having you drive me to each grocery store to use my coupons, that’s great! I think I used twenty-five coupons today and saved about $3.00!”

“At only ten different stores, too, quite an accomplishment, Hazel.”

“And your driving me, such fun, don’t you think? I love spending time with you. How long have we known each other?”

“Ten long years.”

MLMM Wordle #126 – Trials in a Schoolyard

It was an everyday occurrence in the school yard. A cozen or divertissement to bedevil their target, Johnny Jones. Johnny was one of those weird kids that happens along for the bemusement of others. At least that’s how everyone had surmised him from the beginning. They all thought he was willing to endure the tricks, the taunts, because he always started to cry and never quit until they left him alone.

Even the girls wouldn’t take the upper hand, showing no sympathy as girls tend to do in these situations, and were useless to help. Johnny tried to keep his distance from the bullying, but the school and yard were small and there was no escape.

These actions resulted in Johnny developing a hidden crust of invulnerability, and as time went on, his height became an advantage. By the age of twelve, Johnny stood a foot taller than his tormentors, thanks to his father’s genes. It wasn’t so easy to intimidate Johnny when he towered over them. He also developed a certain look on his face that was a warning he was not going to take the abuse any longer.

The trials of Johnny Jones were long and painful, but he learned he could control the outcome with a different demeanor. The bullies’ efforts no longer caused a clatter in the school yard, that is until a new student arrived, Mary Smith. Mary was so pretty, the twelve year old bullying boys were just flabbergasted, but the girls? Now it was their turn to rattle Mary every day. It should have been no surprise to anyone who came to Mary’s rescue.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt- Muse

Usually writing only for myself, my own amusement, keeping my foot in the door, waiting for something exciting, wonderful, even new. That is why I write, trying to stretch my vocabulary once in a while, not ready to simply sit in the proverbial rocker.

I’ve never been the type of person who likes to sit still and do nothing. I am impatient, and life’s lessons provide teachable moments every day. I open my phone and try not to press the Google button to reveal a new horrid message by our incompetent president, or missing child or even if it’s good news, such as a possible cure for a cancer or other debilitating disease–because probably trillions of dollars have been spent on finding cures, but I believe delayed by pharmaceutical company profits. See that? I go off on tangents because my mind is also impatient, and one thing leads to another and another until I’m wiped out emotionally.

This is not a self therapy session, it is exposing my muse. Life is my muse. I’ve led an interesting one and there’s time to do more, I’m just not so equipped to make differences as I used to be, so I write. I write about my highs and lows, my worthless opinions on almost everything.

I have no dimly lit distractions in my life. Everything is brightly colored, whether that color be red, black or a rainbow. It all hits me as a gift. It’s complicated, it’s short, and we all deal with it however we can. It’s like this Prompt – muse. I see it and twist it around to my way of thinking. Okay I hope you laughed at that, because I did. I’m sure a lot of bloggers/writers who put out prompts get a good laugh at how I use their prompts, but that is life, isn’t it?

Movie Monday

Clint Eastwood is like Santa Claus, always working, no matter how old. If he’s not producing or directing, he’s acting, and his choices are always great ones. “Gran Torino” will make your day. For more about this icon: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clint_Eastwood

MLMM Wordle – Jolene

Jolene, now slightly famous from a song of the same name, sashayed into the bar, already a bit tipsy from her afternoon session with her Prince Charming, Mike. Jolene was a customary sight at the Blue Moon establishment, where many would-be suitors came to watch her dance.

Twilight found the bar filling up fast, each patron looking forward to the playful anfractuous choreography as Jolene stretched her skimpy costume to a revealing limit. The college generation sipping their wine, were often caught with rather loud shiggles displays, much to the disdain of the more initiated older customers. Mike was always on hand to quiet the young intruders.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Anyone writing here on the WordPress forum is not impervious to insults, even though they may express that profoundly. I am among those who try to be positive in my comments, sometimes a post slips in as a rant or a plea for compassion. Other bloggers may get the wrong idea which probably means I don’t express myself as well as I thought. My identity is pretty clear, or so I assumed–I don’t hide behind fancy fonts or colors or hard to understand words, don’t ask for money or promote anything. I write simply and try to be positive.

Identity – Word of the Day Challenge
