I’m still getting used to my hand me down – thank you! iPhone. For instance, I wasn’t hearing notifications of texts or calls. I decided to peruse the settings system and it looked like everything was set up correctly.

I was texting my daughter and asked her about it when she told me about a barely visible tiny button above the volume control which had been turned off. Voila! I can now hear the notifications.

When you are gifted a used item with no instruction booklet, sometimes unexpected problems need to be explained. Usually I ask Google 🙄😳😃.

Whenever this word pops up I think of childhood days’ church, and singing hymns. This wasn’t my favorite but I am of the opinion the old hymns are the best. “When the Roll is Called up Yonder”. I doubt I’ll be in that roll😉.

Run(ning) used to be what we called taking kids to school, going on errands to pay bills, fill the the car with gas, grocery shop or pick up other kids in a carpool, or volunteering at school, and more. I never minded doing any of that running around. I loved driving and it was part of my “job” as a young mother.

“Stay at home mothers” is a misnomer and I still resent it whenever any mom is asked “do you work?” as if when you do not have a monetary paying job you are a lesser person. I did run an exercise class at the school gym for other stay at home moms like me where they could bring their children. I had an exercise routine of walking, and swimming but running? No.

SUNDAY PHOTO FICTION – 3-26-2017

I’ve come to the end, just like my search for happiness. I’ve been down this path so many times, and I’m tired of walking it over and over again. I must be crazy. I must set myself up to fail. I certainly haven’t been able to succeed at this, this life of love and happiness I keep hearing about. Hearing, reading, watching in movies and television shows. I don’t think it’s possible. Those movies on the Hallmark Channel . . .girl meets boy, they’re attracted, fall in love, then a conflict arises, they part, but get together again in the last five minutes. The plot is predictable, silly really. Life isn’t like that. Oh and don’t forget the couple is always good looking, one of them has a good job, or money, but somehow their life isn’t complete until they meet “the one”. You know what? I’m sick of looking for the one. Maybe there isn’t a “one” for everyone. Maybe some people are just meant to be alone, and have to make the best of what they have instead of always trying to find someone else to make them complete. This road has ended and so has my search. Time to regroup.

Lately sad feelings follow me around like a small pet, nudging my ankles, demanding attention. I think I am strong, ignore it. I’ve been down in these wintery doldrums before and it never ended up doing me any good–all those tears shed over what happened, might happen, fears unfounded, or realized. . .I guess it all comes down to fear in the end. These raindrops of my heart need to be gone, dried in the sun of a new day, and enjoy the new season of spring.
