It was a hope, a promise, a wish that had been smoldering inside her for years. Now she could accomplish it. She took the magic powder and filled her water glass. She gulped it down, choking on the bitter taste , but it would be worth it. She would see him again, she would keep him safe. The odd mystic predicted it. The spell she cast would complete it. The cup disappeared in her hand and she saw her arms fade away into a light. Her reflection no longer clear, she felt she was traveling in time, back to the day they met.

A2Z Unusually Vicious

I must have skipped yesterday and catching up today. Today I am talking about high school sports. Again. It takes guts to get out on a gym floor or grass field to play a sport these days. For some reason fouls that cause injuries are not called or is it biased coaches training or referees? I find it very frustrating to watch. Trying to take out a star player is nothing new, but when did it become a joke? A lack of sportsmanship is rampant. It’s a game! I know I harp on this but isn’t this also a form of parents promoting disrespect?

All in the Timing

Welcome to Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge. Each week I will be posting a photo I grab off the internet and challenging bloggers to write a flash fiction piece or a poem inspired by the photo. There are no style or word limits.

The photograph below is from ninerio at DeviantArt.com.

For the visually challenged writer, the photo shows a couple embracing in front of a large, illuminated clock, as well as other smaller, x-ray-like images of the mechanical components of clocks.

She knew it was only til midnight that the dream would last—him holding her dancing to music only in her head. Less than two hours of her holding him here in this concoction of purple haze. She thought it odd he seemed completely attentive, his eyes only on her, holding her ever tighter, but that was part of it, part of the spell. She looked up hesitantly to see the reminders all drifting around them—hated harbingers of time.

Good Day

I woke up with a start this morning and it’s been a long day already. However, progress has been made even though the duster I bought immediately fell apart as I removed it from the cardboard casing. Now it will have to be returned, exchanged, and I’ll have them open it before I take it home.

Other news—I see frost rings around the just turning green newly planted grass and small bushes.šŸ˜’. I hope it all survives. The gravel surround between my patio and the parking lot is done, dang it. I was hoping for more grass. A few saplings have survived so far but it’s all I can hope for this being a new construction.

I am wishing you all a good day or night wherever you livešŸ’› and thank you for reading and commenting on my scribbles.

ā€œStrangeā€.

ā€œUnusualā€.

ā€œUncannyā€.

ā€œYes, I certainly agreeā€, the professor said, as the four of them stared at the oddly scribbled message on the sidewalk entry to the university.

ā€œEducation is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think.ā€
