The Bag Lady

I watch from home—thankfully

Might be thrown out at an actual rally

At home I can yell till I’m blue in the face

Not well received by the human race

But my cat who is deaf (or pretends to be)

Just sits there only smiling at me

I think it’s the animation as I let out a word

Not meant for the average public herd.

A Beautiful Thing

A recent trip I have written about here before is my birthday gift of a Track Chair adventure to the Colorado Mountains.

The tight suited young man paced back and forth to and from opposite sides of the stage, fingers interlaced behind his back. His stride was purposeful, as he hoped to present a correct discipline in the auditorium reception. Alongside him hurried another man of small stature, unkempt on his best day, holding a clipboard diagonal to his body and a pocketful of pens. J

“Sir, sir, pardon me, but do you wish me to keep recording your speech?” The audience, a gathering of brash freshmen, chuckled and muttered until a further glare of contempt was shown by the new professor.

• Three Lines
• 14-16 syllables per line
• A total of 44-46 syllables for the entire poem.

• The first line of the Sijo usually sets the theme.
• The second line elaborates on the first line.
• The third line brings the poem matter to a close.

The setting can be nature, a favorite season, or some event of your day. Something, as I mentioned above that can be contemplative in nature.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, perfection seen

Perhaps such possibilities are fleeting, trick of the mind’s eye

And the vision is ruled only by the heart, the true view.
