Always having an appetite for recognizing a faux pas in his colleagues, Jim’s arrogance displayed in a spoken answer to the group. “Apparently my friend Joe has never heard the word dank before,” chuckling. Joe’s trustworthy colleagues threw flames of contempt at Jim. For Joe, it was the final straw and he started advancing towards Jim. All week he had been ribbing Joe, picking on every word in his column. It was time for the fellow reporter to stop. What happened next of course, appeared in Jim’s next column, exaggerated as usual and ending up with him being the poor victim of an unwarranted assault.

I like a song with a good beat. It has to be varied, not a drone of the same type. The best is usually provided by the drums/percussionist. My favorite part of the band is percussion. The other instruments would be lost without their base-pun intended. Perseverance and strength are required to learn to be a drummer.

Mike started to feel sick. He never liked to float while doing the gambler gig. Vegas, Reno, sure, but doing a number on a Louisiana boat? Not his choice. It was a request from the supposed “crown” of his department in the DOJ. Mike never liked the guy and figured he would always be sent on these shit assignments until someone fired his boss. Of course everyone knew the boss took bribes but Mike just needed to find that one memento to prove it.

Jo had this unrelenting habit when a mean rumor would cross his path, usually one laden with exotic secrets, of deciding to seek the truth. On the chance that a haven of validity was hidden in the “lie”, he was a fool of a detective. To top it off, much to his wife’s concern, he housed his bony frame inside a thirties style suit and adorned a matching hat, making him feel like Sam Spade on a mission. Dashiell Hammett would be proud.
