Optimism? I’ve tried that a few years now and the word is getting battered. Pessimism is trying hard to take over! Reading the news, listening to political blowhards, and worst of all, acceptance. All efforts seem not to change anything and I should just learn a word I don’t like—acceptance. “Accept what you can’t change and just settle. Settle for the way things are. You’ll be happier.” WRONG!

The winter solstice came and went and I am a mere snowflake away from the tremulous darkness of a liquid goodbye. You can catalog my feelings as an absolute channel of contrary stubbornness as I refuse to recline into a pool of melted snow. I quote Rodney Dangerfield, who said “I get no respect, no respect at all”. That fact is obvious by the lack of a nose and mouth on my person. So sad.
