You’re home alone but you hear footsteps in your house, what do you do? This actually happened to me at my other apartment building. A young man came into my apartment, all dark and started talking to his (friend) saying man, you’ve really changed things in here, etc and then suddenly realized he was in the wrong apartment. I was not scared and he was so embarrassed that he left quickly apologizing. I had stayed in my bedroom and laughed when he left. I had the maintenance men check my lock the next morning.

GRATITUDE SECTION: I am grateful for my health, cooler weather—I love cuddling up in clothing—and always my family. My middle son is 53 today, living in France and I miss him so much. He was always so fun to be around, started working at 15 and steady on till three years ago when he and his wife wanted to get off the treadmill and be farmers in France. I’m very proud of them❤️

Looking for a steam punk costume which they don’t rent here or one in a costume shop which again, they don’t have here, we are actively looking to zhuzh up something we already own. Since this is the fourth activity in October that needs some zhuzching, we are getting desperate😂. So far we’ve seen examples like these:

Weekend Writing Prompt #279- Superimpose

Often used in my family growing up and now with my friends and extended family, this phrase always puts a smile on my face. I know, crazy, but it’s the little things…

Today I looked it up because as kids we said it playing Cowboys and Indians and before anyone tries to correct my PC, I know you may not like to hear it but we were not brought up racist or rude. We grew up with the concept because our father grew up in the west with great respect for Native Americans.

Here are a couple of interesting articles about the phrase from http://www.npr.org. I prefer the second one, how cool is that one? I love words and phrases and their origins.

“The first time “long time, no see” appeared in print was in the 1900 Western “Thirty-One Years on the Plains and in the Mountains, Or, the Last Voice from the Plains An Authentic Record of a Life Time of Hunting, Trapping, Scouting and Indian Fighting in the Far West, by William F. Drannan. That last part of the novel’s very long title is relevant here, as it gives a good indication of the kind of story Drannan wanted to tell.”

“The second widely accepted etymological explanation is that the phrase is a loan translation* from the Mandarin Chinese phrase “hǎojǐu bújiàn”, which means exactly “long time, no see.””
