Donning slippers sheepskin cozy
grab my cocoa, start to mozy
over to the quilted chair,
hoping for a cuddle there,
when I heard some tapping on the door-
opened to see a man looking cold.
Come in, I said and warm up!
He turned around quite abrupt
I have these friends, his arm gesturing
to his right, eight reindeer resting.
Now I believed in a lot of stuff
when a child and things were rough
but here I see my childhood dream
seeing Santa and his team!
Come in, come in, speaking awkward
stood aside as all came inward.
I speak the truth, but you won’t believe
‘cause dreams are wishes, hard to retrieve
But I swear, I tell no lies
And if you believe, you are wise.

If you or I ignored a subpoena we would be in jail. Why are these people above the law? One of these people is expected to be Speaker of the House! These facts should make you angry.

From NPR: “Members of Congress were referred to the House ethics committee.”

“The committee also announced that four members of Congress, who never complied with subpoenas, were referred to the House Ethics Committee.”

“They are Republican congressmen:

  • Kevin McCarthy of California;
  • Jim Jordan of Ohio;
  • Scott Perry of Pennsylvania; and
  • Andy Biggs of Arizona

All are close allies of Trump, and their resistance in the face of the rules has been emblematic of the antagonistic style of U.S. politics that was growing even before Trump came on the scene.

Whether anything happens to them, though, is unclear since Republicans will control the iteration of the ethics committee in the next Congress and McCarthy is in line to be the next speaker.”

Joe was used to his wife’s little idiosyncrasies and it rarely cost much money, causing any hardship. And some of her choices were hilarious, such as putting bright chrome hubcaps on her ancient VW, or hiring a landscape artist for their ten foot square of back yard. That wasn’t much of a challenge for the landscaper but he brought in his assistant, a trainer, to create a nice area. Some neighbors were brazen enough to scoff publicly about his wife’s habits, but Joe didn’t care. They were just jealous she was so creative.

Revenge

Even in twilight, it looked scary. Snowfall had not softened the appearance of this ominous looking house. They stood on the other side of the creek, ready for action. The “gang” of four ten year old boys armed with two cartons of eggs, rolls of toilet paper and shaving cream, decided the unfriendly owners of this abode were going to pay. In the past three years they stood outside the door, dressed in great costumes on Halloween night. Every year they were ignored. Tonight, November 1,1955, they were seeking revenge.
