The raven called my name. I heard it distinctly as it perched on my windowsill this morning. His form shown in shallow lace curtains, flowing from a breezy thunderstorm underscored his message.

Of course if I had a choice, and this drain of fluid to and from my body was not a painful chain of repetition, at once mending and depleting, I might say “away with you, raven!” But I cannot.

I still listen to the chime of my heart, and the movement of my chest as I breathe in and out. The weight of pain not ceasing draws me to the raven’s message, “it’s time” and if I was strong enough, or even able, I would agree and vote with him.

Projecting yourself into a project takes determination, strength, perseverance, and talent. Whether it be writing, painting, learning something new, or completing a recipe with a delicious result. It takes work. The important thing is to start and finish. I’m not especially good at the finish part. I have projects I started, got discouraged, or bored, and left them unfinished. However, I’ve also completed some important ones with great success. The best thing about all of it was I wasn’t afraid to try.

This is my confession

Written with slight omissions

Sitting here with no ambition

Mostly due to news attrition

Causing a halt in any submission

Of worthy words in composition

Yes, I blame the oppression

Here, no hope of ascension

Falling into mild depression

With no relief succession

And may I also mention

This prolonged detention

With no malicious intention-

The unbridled extension

While provided as prevention

Is beyond my pretension

Chalked up to misapprehension

Is causing me more tension.
