The Letters

***
They were written with care, the cursive letters so politely placed on beautiful ivory parchment. Even as I touch them, a feeling of love stirs deep within my soul. It has been so long since they were written, too long since that same feeling had enveloped me, too long.
After he left, I still kept the letters, now in a larger envelope, not tied with a pink ribbon or scented by a dried rose, but in a Manila envelope marked “private”. I wonder after I’m gone, will anyone read them or respect the privacy notice and discard them instead? This is something you wonder about as you sit by yourself, pondering over old missives. Should I dispose of them myself, should I try to forget what they meant so long ago? I don’t think that is possible.

MLMM Wordle – Castle Tour

The stained floorboards creak and the deeply etched marks, possibly from a claw, are only two of the creepy signs that caused my yo-yo mind to soar quickly from love to hate. The truth is, I saw the brochure ahead of time and was anticipating a fun dip in time to the days of knights and castles.
The visit to a morose setting inside the walls of the keep envisioned a prisoner of singularity who may have been waiting to have his neck thrust upon a bloody stump. It was as horrifying as I previously imagined and I hastened my steps to the open courtyard.

42 Words – Fantasy

My initial adventure into the world of fantasy was letting my imagination reach where my physical being faltered. In my mind I could travel to exotic locations, climb mountains of epic proportions or dance in the Russian ballet. Fantasy allows those dreams.

Monday Movie
This week a documentary on Netflix: “Father, Soldier, Son”. I believe it is a film to note because we need to remember this is still going on and its consequences.

What Day is it Anyway?
Sunday 9:42pm: Playing a game and this ad came on. In my defense it had been a long day and I was craving something sweet. It’s grocery shopping time but because of a long month, it will be a while, at least for anything as frivolous as candy. But. . .

Who knew there’s a candy club? And no, I didn’t cave. But. . .

Sunday Photo Fiction – Bleak

***
An evening like any other these days, with empty streets and useless red lights since there is no longer traffic to obey them. It was of no particular design to keep these lights working, but it provides a useless steady drain on city power.
No one has idle conversations in street cafes. There is no happy child peeking in shop windows wishing for a Christmas gift. Humanitarian aid workers in stifling outfits attend to the dying, with all hope for patient recovery absent. More homeless people on dirty streets every day, since they have no jobs to sustain their homes.
This could be our future if we continue to put our individual wants above others.
