MLMM Wordle #202

A pint of beer, a sleeping bag at the ready, a pennyworth of bread, and the wastrel was settled in for the night. The owner of the establishment felt compassion for these wanderjahrs, and this time of year there were plenty; young people wanting to have a lark before going off to study for the future. The tavern owner provided a room of sorts in the back of the building for them. Wanting adventures before they settle in to chase their future in life would never cease to bring out the wanderlust in young people.

This particular young man was almost breathless with the wonders he saw in these foreign countries. Being marooned in the depths of London in elementary years, he was chosen for a scholarship in a prestigious university, and the travels around Europe before the commitment, was a waiting dream. It would take some amount of metal for him to report to university in autumn.

➗➗➗

**I used metal meaning strength. I’ve heard it used this way many times. However, looking up anything I could find to prove that is proper usage, I was at a loss. I decided to use it anyway.

Carrot Ranch Flash Fiction – The Love Letter

Going through hidden away papers, files, cards, letters, I found what I searched for a few months ago. Your letter of affirmation. You wrote so beautifully, expressing feelings I heard you say, and I loved your voice, by the way. You knew I loved hearing it.

You penned a love letter and within you said you were writing it so I could look at it from time to time, as I did today. Since you’ve been away I tried not to think of you, as I once did. Reading the letter again, tears flowed freely and brought you back.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 28

Sometimes you have to just grin and bear it

Sometimes it helps to come here and share it

WordPress seems a friendly place

A river of fortitude in life’s hectic pace

Often a shelter with a caring face

WordPress is the place to be

Writing here should be free

From rudeness and condemnation

That’s what I think is its reputation

So write and post all with glee

Fun’s where it’s at. I think it should be.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 27

Jerry was a dancer

At least dreamed he was

When he heard music

Always stopped to pause

For a tap or slide with a soft shoe

That’s when everyone knew

Jerry was in a world of his own

When all of his seeds of dance were sown

He’d frequent the discos very well rehearsed

Asked ladies to dance with a cheery verse

They liked to join him to dance in a jiffy

All thinking he was spastically spiffy

His manner of dance sometimes seemed odd

With unusual movements he made with his bod.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 26 and Prompt: Native

“Remember the magic” he whispered in French, his native tongue. Well known for his romantic personality, Jacque waltzed his wife around the ballroom. Their dancing skills provided winning professional awards, and constant togetherness.

Being married for twenty years, they met in Paris at a ballroom dance competition. Fate had stepped in when Marie’s partner broke his leg during practice. Fortunately, Jacque was covering the competition as an arranger, and their story began. Finding herself in a strange place without a partner, and only two days to find another, Marie was devastated. The romantic Paris setting and the song she had chosen were perfect except for losing her known partner. A chance meeting brought Jacque and Marie together and they have been partners ever since.

This night was the fourth of a week’s competition and Marie was more weary than usual. She had talked to Jacque about skipping this one competition because of it, but Paris was Paris, and they hadn’t been back in a few years. He knew her tiredness was temporary and decided to make it extra special for her. As he drew her onto the dance floor, he whispered the message, hoping she would remember the music–the very first song they had danced to.

I smoothed my hand over the leather. I found it rather bumpy, too red in color, with small little bumps interrupting the quality I wanted.

This car had to be perfect for the money I spent procuring it. These bumps simply would not do! Turning to the sales representative, I looked her straight in the eye. “Feel this. . .does this look and feel like Corinthian leather to you?”

The sales rep looked at the supposed leather, felt the bumps also and then sheepishly looked at her customer.

“Uh, I think you may be right. Let me talk to my supervisor.” She left and walked to her office.

I noticed other nicely dressed customers pouring over the expensive vehicles and wondered what they thought. I asked a woman near my age to feel the leather.

“Ridiculous!” she laughed. “This looks and feels like carnelian with carbuncles, certainly not Corinthian leather!

FFfAW Challenge #171 – Realization

Listening to the news this evening, I vehemently oppose the actions of world leaders. There are refugees traveling everywhere trying to escape their countries, their leaders, violence and living in what can only be described as a hell.

As a wealthy country, we need to provide a parachute for these unfortunate souls who just want to be free from oppression, starvation and violence. Interviews with these families that we see are heartbreaking. It’s not just in the Americas, it is world wide.

The sudden realization of being stopped, separated from each other, and denied freedom from their situations I cannot even imagine. It must be terrible.

The flag planted on this peak used to have more meaning.
