Time to Write and Putting My Feet in the Dirt 6

“Who invited him?” All eyes suddenly turned as a portly gentleman entered the party wearing nothing but the plumes of a pigeon. The hair was long and drawn into a wild tail while a moustache practically covered the mouth. Certainly the feathers were strategically placed, but this was the nineteenth century and no one ever, ever went anywhere undressed in such a manner.

As Menken entered the party, ladies fell fainting, fellow thespians joked amongst themselves and a few older women’s mouths were agape at the scantily clad body. The owner of the establishment rang for his stewards to remove Menken but not before Menken shamelessly strode by, making sure to bow deeply in greeting to the circled guests. The shock caused quite a scandal and Menken was escorted outside as soon as the watchmen arrived.

It was at this time it was discovered the trick Miss Menken played on society, furthering her reputation as a scandalous actress.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 5

Ever hear of a medallion notary? Neither had I. A notary medallion is required to validate some important forms. Every bank should have one.

Imagine my surprise in finding unexpected revelations when searching the Internet to find one. There is one, supposedly here in town, but no names or phone numbers are available and appointments are needed. You have to be contacted by them? What is this, the Secret Service? CIA? Interpol? I add Interpol because the only legitimate one I found was in the UK!

Google search showed that UPS and FedEx offices have them, which I understand, also pawn shops, equally legit. But calling all over the place found most advertising this service don’t even know what it is! I asked, then why do you advertise you provide this service? Of course receiving an “uhhhhh” as an answer, I said irritatingly, then take it off your ad!

By this time after numerous phone calls and hearing, ” yes I am a notary, but I don’t know what you’re talking about”, I called my bank again and I was not in a good mood.

Long story, she finally called around and found another branch who had one,and the appt set for tomorrow morning.

Why is it always so difficult to get someone to do their job? Last summer a grandson complained about the work he was doing etc. He did have legitimate complaints, difficult uncaring boss and it was a lousy job. But my advice was clear. You take a job, you do what you’re asked to do to the best of your ability, period.

Maybe I’m just a hardas-.

July Writing Prompts

Daily Addictions Prompt: Reliable

Memory is a fleeting thing

Sometimes out sometimes in

Today I thought I’d join a quiz

Was doing great until the fizz

Drove straight out as in a van

Brain left too, it was a bummer, man!

Guess it’s no longer deniable

My muddled mind is not reliable.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 3 and Daily Addictions Prompt: Gigantic

They gathered at the fence surrounding the Capitol. It was the night of July 4, 2018, a day that “will live in infamy”, or so John Q. Public imagined it would be. Finally his followers, the vigilant vigilantes, would see justice done. Their voices would be heard, the uprising creating havoc and wonderment seen by all as they revealed themselves.

It was almost time. The crowd of resistance fighters started to anxiously move about, sweating in Washington DC humidity and heat of the day. Then their fearless leader, John Q., raised his arms and the crowd cheered. The members stripped naked in unison, revealing red white and blue painted stripes covering their bodies. Ladies swooned and children gasped at the sight.

The most surprising part of all was the release of a gigantic balloon as the accommodating breeze slowly carried the president’s effigy toward the building. As it floated closer to the Capitol building, leaflets spewed from the mouth of the effigy. Pamphlets written in red and white and blue ink saying, “free the people!” And of course other statements not privy to this reporter at the time.

And from somewhere in the hour before the fireworks blew, music of olden patriotic songs incited the crowd to put their hands on their hearts and sing. Their voices only slightly, for a second or two, were heard by “their” president as he lay in his bed chamber, furiously tweeting “the Democrats led by former President Obama are trashing my yard!”

Fandango One Word Challenge: Contract

A contract you say?

With delicate printing?

Sign a paper and pay?

And his eyes were glinting

As I signed with ease

When asked “Please

On the dotted line –

Your name and while

You’re at it, add the date

So there won’t be any payments late

If there is, we assess a fee

Yes, of course it would come to me

Our services are never questioned

But if need be we are vested

In court appointed employees

Who will definitely collect those fees.

You look worried, no need to be

Your best interest’s invested in me.”

$$$$$$
