Putting My Feet in the Dirt 24 and 25

I love to paint, especially with lots of colors mixed together. My specialty is the sun, rising or setting. The morning sun is a tangerine fusion of oranges and peach.

Sunsets are drizzled colors of the rainbow, starting bright and ending with dark purple to black.

Every color, hue, is visible in the sun’s rays, whether early or late in the day.

MLMM Saturday Mix – Truis-par-Huit – 8-25-18

Lightning strikes

Hot bright light from the sky

Streaking through the clouds like a comet

Brings destruction and even death to those below

Innocent creatures watch the light in amazement

None are ever invulnerable

Thundering claps precede

Nature’s show

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt #69

It’s always elementary, the beginning, basic tenets of any project, or part of life that requires work to achieve the goal, the results you want, and the reward.

As you know, my basic beliefs revolve around the word love. The concept is extraordinarily simple. You give it, you get it. Easy, right? Is the answer so elementary? You start a relationship and pour yourself into it, trying with all your might to make it the best, the most perfect, an answered prayer. Sometimes it works, but takes another factor. It takes the return of that love to accomplish.

A project cannot be achieved on your own. Above I’m writing of the human factor, but believe the same is true to achieve any objective in life. It takes the basic tenets of hard work, dedication, even fear of failure and accepting the hiccups, to finish each goal you want to complete.

SoCS – 8-25-18 Hey! New Badge!

Congratulations to Pamela for having her beautiful badge chosen!๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The Prompt for us is notice. This word has tons of definitions but today I’m choosing: an alert, warning, advisory report. Hey, I’m just making those up. But a notice is a handy thing when you like to sleep in on a Saturday.

The discussion started, J will be over tomorrow morning. I replied, seven again? Yes. Seven am is reasonable, but every night is a struggle to get comfy enough to sleep until about two or so in the morning. Eyes are too tired to read for distraction. My daughter suggested listening to books on tape which are free through our library. Cool!

So happy dreams to all who can sleep! Have a great weekend everyone!

Scott’s Daily Prompt: Lace

Tears ran down her face

Trying to keep them hidden

Wore a covering of lace

Kept falling though unbidden

Black was her chosen color

It was necessary in garb

But even black could not hide the painful barb

Gone but not forgotten was the spoken phrase this day

The tears kept on aflowing because her love had passed away.

Daily Addictions: Numerous and Putting My Feet in the Dirt 24

Numerous hippos and hyenas were rushing toward them. Mary picked up the two littlest ones and yelled “c’mon” to her other two children. She ran as fast as she could carrying a baby and toddler, always looking back for their siblings.

It was a free school day at the zoo and two pesky junior high students sneaked away from their sponsors and undid a few latched gates. This caused wide open panic, especially for mothers and young small children.

The two species of animals running towards Mary and her family were scary but not harmful. After finding refuge behind another gated enclosure, Mary sat the babies down and checked to see if everyone was okay.

Heaving a sigh of relief, she noticed the children’s eyes grow wide with fear. Turning around, Mary saw what they saw, a large elephant coming towards them at an alarming pace. This mother was going to protect her own child, a newborn calf.

Carrot Ranch Flash Fiction 8-23-18

No need for crystal balls” whispering into his ear. “You’re feelings are well known to me and mine to you. How many years has it been, ten, twelve, since we first met?” She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, making him feel loved, wanted, complete in her presence.

They met when he entered her tent. Surprisingly, it was light and fragrant inside, no magic potion bottles, but airs of relaxation and warmth. He wondered if a fortune teller would provide answers. She revealed his past reading the cards, and he, mesmerized by her knowledge.

The rest of the story? Magic.

Three Line Tales #134

It was only at the beginning of the day, at the sun’s rise, when the miracle appeared. The indigenous population of the small forgotten island worshipped freely every morning. It was a tradition passed on from the earliest inhabitants of this undiscovered land.

The belief was held by all ancestors that this daily ritual was the secret to their unique way of life, living in harmony with no outside influences to harm them. The rising light through the natural tunnel was their life giving protector.

Outsiders heard rumors of such a place, calling it Utopia, but it was never revealed.

MLMM Tale Weaver – Taphephobia

I had to add Michael’s list of phobias because I found one of them hilarious. . .any guesses? Thanks again Michael, for great prompts.

๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

She didn’t much care for the out of doors, being sickly most of her late adult life, chose to remain inside. Occasionally she would be forced to leave her small abode to take what they called therapeutic walks, a supposed therapy for her condition. Marie had caregivers in the way of two nieces who visited often, thinking they knew what was best for their aging aunt.

Their unwanted attention seemed to increase after a family gathering was held at her husband’s funeral. At this meeting, the remaining family members consisting of the two nieces, one distant nephew and an older sister all met to decide Marie’s future.

She didn’t need their intervention but seemed helpless to change any of the circumstances. Marie was “allowed” to remain in her home since the mortgage had been paid years earlier, and any other living expenses would be covered by her monthly benefit. She and her husband received the benefit after years of employment in a government office. Marie felt no remorse in accepting this stipend which was lowered considerably after her husband’s death. She got by, as the saying goes and was perfectly satisfied living by herself in her own home.

At the meeting it was disclosed that her husband’s will included a clause saying that if anything happened to Marie, the descendants–nieces and nephew, would reap the reward. Marie scoffed at the thought. There were no savings, no reward as it turned out, but a life well lived. After this misinformation circulated, the attention of the two nieces increased to the point Marie was getting frustrated by their visits.

Marie was a mentally strong woman even in her early eighties, strong and independent. However, she did have a couple of phobias: spiders and being buried alive. The fear of spiders she slowly overcame because living alone she had no choice, but the burial fear cause her to request cremation upon her death.

The nieces decided Marie was taking a bit too long in succumbing to old age and devised a plan. The walks were increased and Marie was getting more tired. Often stopping to rest on a log or boulder, the nieces would leave her to sit while seemingly busying themselves in conversation about the surroundings. They had previously set up a trap of sorts and were sure Marie was sufficiently tired to fall into it (by mistake).

Their plan worked, Marie fell into the leaf covered hole without a whimper as the two girls pretended not to notice. The local costabulary dismissed the whole event as an accident and the girls received no consequences.

Of course there was another will reading after Marie’s cremation. The girls could hardly hide their anxiety over the reading. The minister present read the will aloud.

“This is the last will and testament of Mrs. Marie Vanheusen….hereby revoking any previous wills and testaments as of this date ( a year earlier)….I hereby bequeath all my worldly possessions although meager, to the Sisters of Faith charity…

The nieces looked at each other in shock. They had hoped to enjoy Marie’s home and possessions for themselves. Now they only had each other and their miserable lives.
