Three Line Tales #135

“So many books, will we ever find it?” Rupert was quite worried as he grabbed his companion’s arm pushing through the stacks. Desperate to find the solution to their troubles, hearing of this talisman from the ancient tomes, they searched the library.

George and Rupert were on a quest to save their friend Marnie from a certain fate. Only the talisman would save her.

The three had played the video game for days, not realizing they had become an actual part of the game itself. The impending doom of their friend’s death by the warlord had only one remedy.

Isinglass.

Three Line Tales, Week 135

FFftPP #35

When I think of you

I feel like this bubble

My colors outlined in the sky

But empty inside.

I miss you

I miss the feeling of being full of love

Our love.

You cannot see my heart because it is missing, too

It stayed with you.

100 Word Wednesday #86

An afternoon, just relaxing for some. These white, winged beauties are keen observers. They notice everything from scattered crumbs left from a sandy seaside picnic, to a potential meal from a ripple in the sea. They need no sunscreen, well adapted to their environment with wide wing spans to easily soar above the ocean. Keen eyes allow them to concentrate and obtain focus on the tiniest morsel on a boardwalk.

If you decide to feed these birds with a crumb of bread–a warning, they like to share and one call of these gulls will cause an often menacing winged crowd.

I say, Beezlie, are you sporting a new pair of spectacles?

Why, yes, yes I am. Do you like them, Butterflynn?

They’re brilliant, Bee. What do you use them for, or is it impertinent for me to ask?

Certainly not, Butter, we’ve been on this same bush for a few hours and I consider you a chum of the best sort!

Well there are plenty of good meals about, now that spring is in full bloom.

Quite right, old chap. With the new lenses I am keen on dining well. I must be off, mate.

Splendid, see you at tea time. That’s when they put out the honey!

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 29

She was shy, but passionate. It was evident when she first met him. She had been watching him from across the room, sneaking glances when she thought he didn’t notice.

She turned her attention back to the dull conversation with the older generation when she heard a stranger’s voice behind her.

Turning, she saw him, close, almost touching her, and she felt her cheeks warming, tinged with scarlet dust.

He smiled openly at her blush, because he had noticed her interest from a distance. Introducing himself with his hand grasping hers, the warmness continued into the rest of her being. He must have realized the impact his touch had, and held her hand a bit longer than usual. She was comfortable with both actions and returned the smile.

Love at first sight was just the beginning.

Word of the Day Challenge: Parsimonious

Decorating in a style parsimonious

Thought the finish quite harmonious

Others might look and compare

As bleak, seeing no furniture there

The owner would disagree

Never wanting to pay a fee

For furnishings he didn’t need

No curtains sporting a decorative bead

Nothing comfy and overstuffed

No pillows sitting, perfectly fluffed

Only a single wooden chair

To decorate his barren lair.

Word Prompt: Rock Chips

Growing up on two hundred acres of farm land in NE, the fences were made mostly of stones. It was a great place to explore and find specimens of different types of rocks. One of my favorites was chipping off pieces of mica. I recently found out mica is used in making isinglass. I fell in love with that word, so expect a story using it in the future.

The word mica is derived from the Latin word mica, meaning a crumb, and probably influenced by micare, to glitter.[5]
