Putting My Feet in the Dirt 8

Before I get too maudlin, listening to my last post today, I have to vacuum and dust. Dancing with dust mites might not be everyone’s idea of fun but a necessary task. When my children were little, we all did chores together. Probably their worst nightmare was coming home from school to hear this song playing on the stereo. It meant time to clean! I can still hear their groans. . .

SoCS 9-8-18

A hale and hearty good day!

I wrote that hoping it would motivate me. I took out all the ingredients to make cookies. A rare effort on my part. But it is the ingredients I have at the moment and I’m wanting something sweet.

The ear worm I had years ago after my husband died when I listened to Sam Smith constantly. Now I still tear up if I hear it, so I don’t play the cd anymore. It was this:

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Sept. 8/18

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 7

Imperial units scanned the country. They had been looking for intelligent life on this new planet and they started exploring in the richest nation that had been formed so far.

Thinking the leader of this nation would be the right being to observe, they found him at his current residence, a location called the white house. That was perfectly logical since it was in reality, a house that was white.

As they closed in to secretly observe they were surprised and started to laugh. Of course their laugh was not nearly the same as the beings on the planet and a thick yellow odor enveloped the white house, causing it to turn a nicotine yellow.

The whole incident was ignored by the leader, as he was busily tweeting on an arcane device known by the Imperials as a computer. They decided the rumors in the galaxies were true. There was no intelligent life on this planet.

Epilogue:

There was one man who never gave up his quest for the truth of how earth could be. And this is one way he searched for it:

September Writing Prompts

Scott’s Daily Prompt: Premium

“Some days you’re the dog and some days you’re the tree” is one version of the ups and downs of life in general. Not quite an elegant statement, is it? But today is a way up premium day already and it’s not even noon!

I say premium, defined as top notch, prize, award winning. The reason is, I received a call from my grandson. He’s been at college for a while and we’ve Instagrammed but rarely talked. I didn’t want to bug him as he got settled in to his new environment or make him more homesick than I knew he was.

He asked what I was doing and I said making coffee. Then in the door he walks. I could barely let go of hugging him. So yes, a premium day indeed.

MLMM Tale Weaver #187

A middle aged man always had a good job. After college, he worked hard, moved whenever he was asked, built up a business from scratch. He married, had a family and it seemed everything was rosy. The younger man was taken advantage of, and now he is struggling to maintain a morsel of the life he once had.

Always faithful spiritually, a caring husband, a perfect example of fatherhood, he always and still does his best.

Life is hard, and doing your best through adversity takes great strength of character. This ability is instilled by parents who set the example.

Three Line Tales #136 – Home

It was supposed to only be vacation, a temporary stop. It was so inviting. The mountains, surroundings, how could they not stop? She walked out on the edge of the bank. He came behind her and as his arms encircled her, they sighed in unison. This was what they were waiting for, a place just for the two of them.

The beauty surrounding them convinced them to stay. He drove to town, came back with lumber and tools. He wanted to show her he was serious by building a permanent extension from the mobile abode.

She was finally at home.

Three Line Tales, Week 136

TTC – Hidden Talent

Little boy blue was late. He was always late because he was always oversleeping. Every time he heard the scream, “come blow your horn” he knew there was going to be trouble. And of course it was his fault, taking every opportunity to nap in the haystack while he ignored his real job, protecting the crops. No one knew the real reason behind boy blue taking so many naps, but now it will be revealed.

Instead of sleeping at night, little boy blue indulged in his dream, his real reason for living, ballet. This night time activity was a passion never known to the master of the farm. And it was not, until. . .

Sleeping soundly on the hay after a particularly late evening of dancing, he suddenly awoke to see the farm’s master standing above him. “Sleeping again, I see! What in tarnation are you wearing? Are those ballet shoes?”
