Putting My Feet in the Dirt 8

Before I get too maudlin, listening to my last post today, I have to vacuum and dust. Dancing with dust mites might not be everyone’s idea of fun but a necessary task. When my children were little, we all did chores together. Probably their worst nightmare was coming home from school to hear this song playing on the stereo. It meant time to clean! I can still hear their groans. . .

  1. “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show” is my most favorite song by Neil Diamond. At first I just liked it because it was in my key (as are most ND songs), but later it grew on me because of its sheer brilliance in capturing the feel of a tent revival in the south during August. I’ve been to a few as a child, and he totally nailed it.

And yes, back in my day, we were expected to not only pitch in with the household chores, we children were a key part of the chore task force. And woe be to the child who did not do his/her chores on time and up to snuff!

I don’t know if it was a simpler time or not, but it was definitely a tidier time.
