1. I would not want to run into a rabid animal.

2. The creepiest thing that happened to me – having a man cut me off, pull in front of me and get out of his car and walking to my car window.

3. Are you kidding? I have no idea. For a laugh I think “okay, who’s with me?”

4. I think legends come from somewhere, so who is to know, really?

5. I don’t go to horror movies.

6. Clowns are horrid things, and yes, creepy.

7. A flamethrower.

8. Yes, I think they are interesting. We used to do it as children, and the ouija board.

9. Maybe because they look great at night.

10. I think most anything that can take your mind off daily problems that go on is a good thing.

The Secret Keeper #165

Halloween night

It had been a rough day

Dressed in some rags

To scare ghouls away

Didn’t seem to work

Thought I was hip

But opening the gate

Saw kids curling their lips

Didn’t mean such a fright

On trick or treat night

Listening to them starting to w(h)ine

Donned a better costume

Then they were fine.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 30

Dressing this morning

In the dark

Without glasses

Weather so cold

I felt like molasses

Thought I may go out for the day

Got up early to be on my way

Weather is chilly, calls for a sweater

Blue with these pants

Couldn’t look better

After all the hair and makeup done

Went again to a mirror to see what I’d done

I noticed the sweater looked good as new

Wow, this detergent really kept it blue!

Looked closer, realized it was inside out

I’m at the brink of the link without a doubt.

PITTSBURGH β€” At the end of a weekend that redefined concepts of anti-Semitism in the United States, a grieving Rabbi Jeffrey Myers directly linked Saturday’s massacre at his Tree of Life synagogue to the rhetoric of U.S. politicians.

β€œIt starts with speech,” Myers said to loud applause at a Sunday-evening vigil attended by two U.S. senators. β€œIt has to start with you as our leaders. My words are not intended as political fodder. I address all equally. Stop the words of hate.”

Two hours after the rabbi’s speech, President Trump absolved himself of responsibility and once again blamed others for the nation’s troubles.

Movie Monday

I may have done this one before. The people who made this movie have great insight to real people. “Little Miss Sunshine”. I can also relate to Olive being left. I was left at a gas station as a child. Luckily, the owner was a friendly man who tried to reassure me they would return, and they did. My cousin kept telling them they left me, but the four adults kept ignoring her.πŸ˜³πŸ˜„

The Hoover family — a man (Greg Kinnear), his wife (Toni Collette), an uncle (Steve Carell), a brother (Paul Dano) and a grandfather (Alan Arkin) — puts the fun back in dysfunctional by piling into a VW bus and heading to California to support a daughter (Abigail Breslin) in her bid to win the Little Miss Sunshine Contest. The sanity of everyone involved is stretched to the limit as the group’s quirks cause epic problems as they travel along their interstate route.

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 29.

Remember the old days when using a bell

Was the only way for someone to tell

When it was time to come in for supper

Or fall out of bed if you’re in the upper …(sorry…but it rhymes…)

Bunk and needed to get up quick

Cause the alarm on the clock decided to stick?

Those were the days when you woke up cranky

From an old bell so clunky and clanky.

The blasted thing never stopped, if it worked

So you were tempted to give it a jerk

Off the shelf and across the room

Hoping to quiet the impending doom

Of rising again to face the fray

Getting up and out, and start your day.

I’m so excited!

It was fun watching the last two games and yes, this is my last post bragging about the Red Sox and winning the World Series. The players were great but I am most proud of Alex Cora. He seemed to be a cool cumber during the games and of course, watching on tv we don’t see everything, and knew nothing about him but was impressed by what I saw. Here he is:

I read an interview with him and when signing his contract he asked for a plane of supplies to be sent to his country, Puerto Rico. You gotta love a guy like that! So his first time managing the Red Sox, resulting in his first win at the World Series. Congratulations!

It’s men and women like this that we need, who care, and do something about it, not sit in their ivory towers looking down upon the public.

Sunday Photo Fiction and Putting My Feet in the Dirt 28

She was usually a mild mannered teacher, pleasant to the children and her fellow instructors. It was October and the classroom was already acting up with the change in the weather. It was the week of Halloween and the students were looking forward to the pumpkin carving contest.

Mrs. Jones was always relenting when it came to the excitement of any holiday and thought it was a fine idea to let the children participate as much as the rules allowed. The rest of the school staff were not as enthusiastic and the principal held no such idea, adamant in discouraging any “pagan” festival.

Being somewhat malleable, Mrs. Jones yielded to some of the wishes of her students and since costume parties were now outlawed, she compromised with a pumpkin carving competition. The prize was of great interest to the students, being an all-you-can-eat ticket to the local creamery. The students’ parents respected Mrs. Jones and were comfortable in her choices.

The Day of the contest all pumpkins were on display. Unfortunately, word of her classroom contest reached the principal and he looked shocked when he entered the room, exclaiming, “what are these abhorrent apparitions?
