A to Z – T plus – Just a Cup of Tea

It was such a hot afternoon, they decided to stop by for some iced tea. Both ladies had seen the intriguing storefront but never been inside. Once they stepped in the overwhelming scent of massage oil filled their senses. Iced tea cravings soon left their minds and suddenly filled with other things.

Curiously stepping further in to the establishment, a young scantily clothed gentleman brushed aside a beaded curtain and entered the foyer. “Ladies, welcome! May I assist you?”

Julie blurted out, “why is that woman naked?” as the beads took their time settling in to cover the scene inside the back room.

Sandy mumbled something about leaving and pulled on Julie’s arm. “Let’s go.”

Julie took a closer look at the young man and asked, “do you serve iced tea here?”

The young man smiled, “we serve anything you wish, miss.”

The ladies lingered to hear the menu.

MLMM Photo Challenge – Dogs Portrait

Harry, would you please try to smile a little? You look pretty intimidating standing up there. I know Danes are friendly but the public doesn’t. Henry, you in the back, that’s a smile I love, you Labs all have it! Jerry, could you put those ears down a bit? You’re hiding the guys behind you. Frenchie, I see you peeking around Olaf, but if you sit up straight I could see you better.

Olivia, your white coat is beautiful today, but you look sad, anything wrong? Blighty, you’re so little and black you’re hard to see there, why not move closer to Olivia? Bucky and Joey, you’re looking angry about something, what’s up? Sammy, your yellow tag is reflecting the sun, could you lower your chin to cover it some? Richard, if you don’t want to be in the photo, quit sneaking in to the side with that menacing expression!

Matilda? That flowered scarf is distracting, could you lower your head a bit? You guys in the back sit up straight or we can’t see you! Everyone else, perfect. Bark “cheese”!

Spin The Yarn – To Go Where Others Only Dream

There we were trapped on the island, we had run out of food…

of course there was the dead shark just lying on the sand. It had washed up in the middle of the night. We weren’t really sure if it was actually dead or playing possum.

Jerry decided to get a long stick and poke it a few times to see if it would move. Starving by now, the prospect of eating it was uppermost in our minds. Jerry didn’t get too close, but did try to get a reaction. “Even if it’s still alive it ain’t goin’ nowhere on the sand”–one of Jerry’s more keen observations.

After determining it was no longer harmful, Jerry built a fire and we were about to have flake, a delicacy served on palm leaves. What a treat!

By the time Jerry laboriously sliced off some meat with a pointed piece of driftwood, our mouths were watering. Placing that part in the coals, we heard an unfamiliar sound.

***

The sound grew louder and two shocked castaways saw a nice looking motorboat coming towards them. A smartly dressed man in shades, shorts, and white shoes jumped onto the sand. “G’day mates! I see you found our guy! He drifted off the set last night and we’ve been looking for him ever since.”

The two islanders stood open mouthed as they realized the shark was only a fake used for the upcoming “Sharkanado 25” movie crew.

Word of the Day: Fort

This is an easy one because one of my favorite places to visit is Fort Collins, Colorado. My granddaughter plays soccer there and it is where the family’s church is located. It is beautiful compared to our home in Cheyenne. Green, lots of trees, parks, mountains in full view. ❤️Of course it’s also too expensive!

A to Z – S for Save our Earth

Sam and his friends walked down to launch their paper boats. Popsicle masts held sails made of tissue, and a cardboard keel. A length of twine made sure to wield some control and they were set.

All three boys had a backpack with their lunch and a thermos of lemonade. It was a summer day’s routine they looked forward to every week. All boats were similar but held a differently designed paper flag attached with a toothpick. They were quite sturdy little crafts despite their makeup.

This morning they approached the brook to see pieces of trash floating there. There were plastic bags, soda cans, all leftovers from someone else’s lunch, but there they were, some floating and some clinging to the shore.

The boys were angry. How could someone be so careless? They dropped their boats, waded in and picked up anything within reach. The boys’ parents were also upset when the boys came home with the nasty treasure. They were proud to think it had made an impression on their sons and a practical unplanned lesson learned.

Easter Sunday

It’s Easter Sunday here and thoughts

Of all the chocolate bunnies bought

Pastel baskets and cellophane grass

For every small lad and lass

Sometimes a trip to church

Hoping they won’t suddenly lurch

And bring a new Easter toy

While others sing of Easter joy.

🥚🥚🥚

At home the colored eggs are waiting

Hidden gems among yard slating

Hunted treasure fills empty sacks

Each child’s rush causing cracks

Even jelly bean plastic filled

Spilled on grass cause a thrill

Scavengers do their best

Then filled tummies nap to rest.
