Picture Prompt-31

Yes, drapes wide open. Typical, with his ego. Yes, she’s there, too. I knew it. He has lied for the last time. And he’s not getting away with it. I’ve made sure that the people on the subway platform noticed me. I even asked the time from an older woman so hopefully she will also remember me.

It’s almost time, he should hear the knock any moment. I’ll bet he won’t even dress to answer the door! He’s looking at her, they’re on the bed, naked, of course, and suddenly they part. He rises to, answer the door? I hope. My plan is working so far.

He’s not coming back. I can’t see anything but the bedroom. The woman looks distressed, grabs her robe and tries to hide in the closet.

I rest my head on the machine. Did it work? Is he gone? It seems an eternity till I look again and see the police searching the bedroom and find the woman.

Mission accomplished. I turn away from the machine and calmly walk down to the subway.

Daily Prompt:  Shine

Before I put on the first thing I thought of, a very old song, “Shine on Harvest Moon”, I should explain I am a lover of music. It probably started when listening to my dad playing songs by ear on the piano, or playing his fiddle or banjo. There wasn’t much he couldn’t play. We all watched, listened and sang along. I think all of us enjoyed this very much. Music means a lot to me and different songs create different moods. Being a hopeless romantic, I like old and new songs about love the most. Some of the lyrics or the way they are sung, with powerful voices, really “hit home” and can make me cry.

My dad used to play at the local dance hall on some Saturday nights. My mom and I would sit and watch, sometimes dance. I can remember my mom being upset by some unpaired couples sneaking out to the parking lot where, as a child, I imagined them doing terrible things. What those were I had not a clue, but seeing my mom’s demeanor, it must have been bad! Most of the people there knew each other.

I watched a lot of dance and musical movies also. Pretending to be Ginger Rogers or Cyd Charisse was a favorite pastime. And CC legs! How long were those beautiful legs? I only wished mine would get as long as hers. But no, definitely not. I have a five foot friend and our legs are the same length!

I would wear thick socks and run and leap the length of the kitchen, dining and living room floors. Seemed quite a distance at that age. A child’s imagination can take them anywhere and believe almost anything.

One of my favorite parts in this video is Cyd Charisse slinking in and Fred says”she came at me in sections…more curves than the scenic railway”.

Shine on, winter moon, only a few more months to go.

Just Jot it Jan-01-09-17-Power

Last night I had the experience

Of others not being lenient

They were using their power

At an ungodly hour

It was three in the morning

And without warning

Sounds of a motor pervaded

My room below, it invaded.

Now I’m all for cleaning

But at that hour? Demeaning!

I tried pillows and headphones

No luck to stop those tones

Rumbling and then an occasional drop

As the plugins were changed, so it stopped

Temporarily while furniture slid

‘Cross the floor. How could I rid

Myself of this onslaught

Of noise? Then I thought

I could make them cower

Disconnecting their power.

Share Your World -01-09-2017

1. If I lost a bet and had to dye my hair? Platinum blonde. You don’t expect to see a seventy year old woman in pb hair, so it would definitely give some a laugh. I’m sorry to say every other color is the norm for some old ladies. I’m a “never dye my hair” diehard.

2. One word I would concentrate on this year would be patience. I don’t have enough to go around, especially in writing, and dealing with “loading” things on electronic devices.

3. Something I learned that “made my year” was that people in general are more alike than we could imagine, out there in the world – your writings, your photographs, are very inspiring. I’m grateful for all of you, broadening my horizons with your words and pictures.

4. I would love to revisit my childhood and find a pail of wild strawberries. Sitting on the grassy strawberry patch, savoring those little bits of heaven, what a treat!

I am grateful this week for advice from a blog friend who took the time to answer a personal question. Thank you.

I’m looking forward to going to the grocery to replenish my dwindling supply of kleenex, since my cold has used most of them. I also need fresh fruit to brighten up my menu of the past two weeks, hot soup meals.

I am wishing warmer weather, sunshine, and good happenings to everyone! (A bit too Pollyanna?). Oh well..😂😂

Tell me something good-39

It’s 2:44am and the people above just stopped vacuuming. And they either have constant company knocking on their door or they’re hanging art work.

The good news is that now it’s only fourteen minutes till the coffee grinder goes off. Maybe then I can get to sleep. Thirteen….

Writing Prompt: January 8th – SMS

Texting him almost seemed like a waste of time, but, “Hi, you there?”

“Yeah, watching tv”

“Any plans?”

“Nope.”

I waited for him to come back with some kind of offer to spend time together.

“Well, ok, I’m just chillin’, too.”

I ventured another text, hoping for a positive response.

“Seen the new Matt Damon movie?”

Waiting, waiting, finally,  “huh?”

I put the phone down.  He obviously wasn’t interested.

Picture Prompt-1963

I smell this rose and I remember when we planted this rose bush. The very first time I saw him, he handed me a rose from a bush like this. The scent was almost overpowering, as was his presence. I had my eye on the rose, but could not help but feel him looking at me, encompassing my being. I could almost feel his touch, it was so powerful. His presence was powerful. I felt a bit dizzy.

Standing there, offering me this rose, I looked into his eyes to find warm, brown orbs that sparkled in the sun. I was instantly attracted as my gaze traveled down to his imperfect nose, and wide smile. I knew at that very moment, I wanted never to be away from him. That instant attraction grew to be the story of our life together.

Now as I smell this scent again, tears fill my eyes and flood over onto the petals. It won’t be long, my love, till together, we hold this rose.
