One of Those Days

Ever have one of those days

You feel left out

Like a third wheel

That you’re forgotten

Ignored, set aside

Sitting alone

Wish you were not

Crying at nothing

Feeling navy blue

Or even black

Lightness gone

Heavy with thought

Ambition over

Creativity lost

Feeling sad for no reason.

I hate those days.

Picture Prompt-49

She looked over her shoulder. Yes, he was still watching her. Of course that’s what she wanted. That’s why she wore this dress, showing off her tattoos. Anyone interested in her because of the drawings was someone she wanted to meet.

Her life story was painted on her body. Not her real life, but her fantasy life, the one she wanted to live. She endured the pain of the needle, hoping the results would finally sweep her away into them. Of course it wouldn’t really happen, but as each tattoo was blazoned on her body, she would try to wish herself into them.

He was still looking at her, couldn’t take his eyes off her! She was certainly beautiful, but those tattoos! He would love to see all of them, every painting on that beautiful body. She looked right at him. He knew she was interested. It was as if there was a silent connection.

Yes, he was interested alright. She could feel his curious interest in his gaze. Maybe if she turned around and started toward him….

Unbelievable, he thought. She’s coming over! Their attraction was equally exciting. As she grew closer he smiled. “Care for a drink?” he asked. They left the street carnival and went into the cafe.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS and #JusJoJan Jan. 28/17-wood/would

Since my last name is  Wood, Hi! it’s me!  And I think it would be about time for a reminder of a great children’s cartoon show from a million years ago: The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.  Characters included Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Bullwinkle J. Moose, Peabody and Sherman and their Wayback time machine to teach about history, Fractured Fairytales, and of course a set of villains, Natasha Fatale and Boris Badenov.  Dudley Do Right was a Canadian Mountie.  While you were laughing, you learned some things, too. I couldn’t find a shortened version, so here’s the intro:

And of course I have to add: how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.  Sorry, I had to do it.

Mystery Blogger Award

I was nominated for The Mystery Blogger Award by amommasview.wordpress.com. If you run over and check out her blog, you will never be disappointed. She is honest, forthright, ……and hilarious. Thought I was going to say she was also a Canadian Mountie? Or am I just thinking of Dudley Do Right?  Never mind, most of you aren’t old enough to remember “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show”, but it was the favorite of mine and my small kids.

Okay, Okoto Enigma, that intro does not qualify me as an award recipient, but I appreciate the thought.    Three things about me you probably already know, because I talk too much:  I love humor, I enjoy reading blogs and try to leave comments because I appreciate receiving them myself, and three,  I have been craving a turkey and stuffing dinner ever since there were no leftovers at Christmas.
And amommasview, I thank you, and the answers to your difficult questions are:
What is a dream you would most like to achieve?
1.  The dream I most want to achieve is to see peace in the world before I die.  So get on it, people!

Have you ever been in love?  What did it feel like?  When was your first kiss?  If not, what’s your favorite dessert?

2.  Yes, I’ve been in love a few times.  The first was in fourth grade with a neighbor who attended the same one room school.  It was winter and snow had melted on the part of the playground in the back.  Ice had formed, resulting in we girls sliding down to the end of the “trail” where we were kissed by certain boys.  Remember that, Nick?  My first real kiss was on my doorstep after the Sophomore Hop.  I lost my wrap and never noticed!😂. I fell in love at first sight with my husband of forty-seven years.  Just for fun, my favorite dessert is rhubarb pie.
What do you do when no one is around?

3.  When no one is  around which is most of the time, I definitely take off the worst invention ever created by (it had to be a man):  the over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder industrial strength bra that we old ladies wear.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

4.  It is hard to choose a most embarrassing moment because I’m the type of person who’s not afraid to put myself out there.  Hmmmn.  Last week at Subway my 13 yr old grandson and I were waiting to be picked up from the store.  They have those high barstool chairs that short people like me only dream about sitting on.  But what the heck.  My grandson cringed as I pulled myself up and sat on it.  The embarrassing part was getting off.  My feet wouldn’t reach the floor so it was iffy.  I did make it, with a few onlookers probably thinking I would fall.  Nope!
What is your favorite book a teacher requested you read?

5.  “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck was a favorite.  I like the real people, simple honesty of his books.  They are easy to read and have interesting characters.
I will mention just a few of the blogs I like to read:

Lostpropertyrepository

Yournibblednews

Thecomfortablecoop

Inner whispers

Elaine’s Blogger paradise

A cornered girl

Bikurgurl

Theoriginalphoenix

Theshowersofblessings

I would continue the five questions I had to answer and add a weird one for your amusement.

6.  If you could be anyone in the world, but yourself, living or dead, who would it be?

About 2019

Rory, that old questionable guy….uh, that’s not quite right, the guy with the questions…better? : ) He asked how often we update our About page and I thought, yup, should do that. But as I read my old one below, I realize not too much has changed. I am now four years cancer free so that’s new, on no meds and that’s a reason to celebrate! I have many more people reading my blog which is an inspiration to keep on writing and I’m thankful for thst. I have tried to venture out and do more challenges, and that’s a good thing, maybe not for you, the reader, but for my psyche at least. I am more homebound than before so reaching out in the blog helps keep me relatively sane. I have met and read so many outstanding people here, and that is the biggest reward of all. Thank you all for reading. I appreciate your taking the time to include me.

This was my 2017 About page:

A new day, a new dawn, a new year….2017! Welcome to my blog. I started this around a year or so ago, and had no idea anyone would read it. It was a cathartic endeavor. I’m glad you decided to take a chance and read some of my stuff. I’m excited to know more of you here on the blogoverse. Or whatever it’s called. Sometimes I like my own words better. I have a sense of humor and usually write that way. I speak my mind, what little of it there is left and don’t mean to offend anyone. Well there is this one….nah, JK.
I am a widow since 2013, live alone in a semi- handicapped apartment in Wyoming. I have three grown children with families and my grandchildren are pictured below. I love them without measure, and may brag about them a bit. I love the challenges and try some of them. Once in a while I have a serious moment and write about it. I hope you’ll visit often and leave your calling card so I can visit you!

Cyranny’s Cove Amazing Race-Moe, from Team Monkey

Hi there!  Moe speaking.  I left my brothers Curly and Larry home.  I’ve pretty much had the run of the house since my official team leader has been keeping warm under her covers.  Yes, snowy and windy here.  But it hasn’t stopped me from sneaking into her backpack a few times.

She still has her tree up, can you believe it?  I guess she’s proving the tree salesman right when he said it would last till February!  Since she has that ancient Christmas mouse up there, she probably won’t even notice me.

I also played Monkeyzilla on her Christmas village display.

Well I’ve got to be moving along for now.  Besides, I’m getting hungry!

Picture Prompt-48

Pete ignored the Do Not Enter sign and continued down the stairway.  No choice as he saw it, his brother’s life was in danger.  He checked his inside pocket to make sure the money was there, and the gun.  Having to get his brother out of trouble once again, his mind couldn’t keep from remembering the many times his brother called on him to make things right.  He always seemed to be in the wrong place at the right time-the time trouble started.  This wasn’t any different.  Gambling became an obsession for his brother and all the dangerous aspects of it.

This time he couldn’t pay.  He called on Pete to get him out of another jam.  Pete thought about how hard he had worked to save this money, and he felt sick.  His brother had no idea of sacrifice.  He never worked an honest day of labor.  He just tried to get by on his charm and street smarts.  Well that wasn’t working now, was it?

The room below was dark and smoky.  Pete walked over and threw the money on the table.  “That’s all I’ve got.”

The guy nodded to his associate and motioned to a door.  Pete’s brother stumbled into the light.  Pete grabbed him and turned to leave.  The guy at the table nodded an okay to his henchmen, and grunted a warning, “I never want you in my place again.”

Relieved, Pete dragged his brother out the door and up the stairs.
