Prompt-33-Twisted


If you’re like me……OMG!……I digress…..if you’re like me you have billions of cords hanging around everywhere. Being mostly sedentary, I have an iPad charger cord, cell phone charger cord, lamp cord, CD player cord, headphones cord, TV, DVR, DVD player, laptop cords, and a printer that has an electric and USB cord.  

Again, if you’re like me, (cough) you listen to music or play a video on your iPad at night when apartment rules state you must be quiet, so I use a headphone cord. As I move it constantly gets twisted around my arm. Also the ten foot iPad charger cord if I’m watching something lengthy and don’t want the battery to run out. What would we do without cords? Probably most of you have these items, not all in the same room as I do. And in your cars? My grandkids have their phones or tablets plugged into a tape deck that fits in their cars so they can listen to music they like from their phones.  Heaven forbid you should unplug something while moving around in the car.  

Maybe I’ll contact CW McCall and see if we could write a song about it.🤓🤠

Hey!  It’s Moe from the Amazing Race -Team Monkey!

I left that old Wyoming, that wind is terrible!  I packed my bags and ran over to Gloversville, New York.  It is a medium sized town and got its name from leather mills in which gloves are made.  I had a nice time and met a new friend, a dog named Joe!  Joe and I hung out together. We went into town to check out good ol’ Gloversville. Then we visited the post office, and the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce on the busy 4 corners of Gloversville. After that we went back home for a bite to eat.

The next day we got up, ate breakfast, and set out for another day of adventure! It was a very blustery day freezing! But we stayed warm. We went to the gym first to work out a bit, then went to the museum in Gloversville, which was actually Sue’s elementary school. Sue is my team leader’s niece.😄I thought it was kind of funny that her school is now a museum. She didn’t think it was soooo funny! Then we went to see where the race horses used to be trained that ran on the Saratoga race track. Boy those buildings were old! Then back home to the apartment! All and all it was a good trip! Now on to Florida yippee!

Stream of Consciousness Saturday-3-11-17

Howdy Doody Everyone! Time for SOCS………Short? I’ll keep this short but not sweet:

Shortly it will be time to rest, well let’s hope so. I need sleep! My grandson picked me up and we went to the movies to see “John Wick 2″……okay, we were going to see “Kong” but it was sold out. Did I ever think I would want to see another sorry version of King Kong? No! I dislike remakes, but until Beauty and the Beast comes out, it was a choice for our age group. John Wick is guns, shooting, guns and more guns and shooting, running, ducking shooting and more guns. Actually him shopping for weapons was a good part. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not into violence, but I was sitting there, the oldest one in the theater I imagine. Of course the hero, John, is the best shot. He also uses handy items but I won’t spoil that for you. Let’s just say it turned my stomach and I watch GoT!😳. I would not recommend anyone under seventeen seeing this. JS😉

One of my favorite abstract impressionist artists is Jackson Pollock.  Controversial American painter with a unique style and personality.  Enjoy!

  

      

To produce in Jackson Pollock’s ‘action painting’, most of his canvases were either set on the floor, or laid out against a wall, rather than being fixed to an easel. From there, Jackson Pollock used a style where he would allow the paint to drip from the paint can.



 Jackson Pollock was an influential American painter, and the leading force behind the abstract expressionist movement in the art world. During his lifetime, Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety. Jackson Pollock’s greatness lies in developing one of the most radical abstract styles in the history of modern art, detaching line from color, redefining the categories of drawing and painting, and finding new means to describe pictorial space. 


Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming in 1912. His father, LeRoy Pollock was a farmer and later a land surveyor for the government. Jackson Pollock grew up in Arizona and Chico, California. During his early life, Pollock experienced Native American culture while on surveying trips with his father. Although he never admitted an intentional imitation or following of Native American art, Jackson Pollock did concede that any similarities were probably a result of his “early memories and enthusiasms.”

When Pollock received the commission to create a mural for the entry to Peggy Guggenheim’s new townhouse, he had Howard Putzel, Guggenheim’s secretary-assistant, to thank. Putzel had urged Guggenheim to give Pollock a project that would unleash the force he perceived in Pollock’s smaller-scaled easel paintings. For her part, Guggenheim was eager to present in her home a symbol of support for the new American brand of art she was beginning to champion in her gallery. The choice of subject was to be his, and the size, immense—8′ 1 1/4″ x 19′ 10″, meant to cover an entire wall. At the suggestion of Guggenheim’s friend and advisor Marcel Duchamp, it was painted on canvas, not the wall itself, so it would be portable. Pollock wrote of his commission that it was: “…with no strings as to what or how I paint it. I am going to paint it in oil on canvas. They are giving me a show November 16 and I want to have the painting finished for the show. I’ve had to tear out the partition between the front and middle room to get the damned thing up. I have it stretched now. It looks pretty big, but exciting as all hell.”

Word Prompt-Awaken

After years of living so-so

Now I’m more in the know

It’s easy to stay on an even plain

Easy to stay and just maintain

But when kids and partner are gone

And there’s no one left to mow the lawn

House builds up with things full of dust

Hate to get out of bed but know you must

It takes a little effort, maybe some shaking

To get yourself going and awaken

To the world you have left to peruse

Get out and see what you have to use

Get out and try, you’ve got nothing to lose.

Picture Prompt-86-2

         It’s all shoveled and I’m just waiting.  I can hear the truck coming down the road.  Everything is so still and quiet, I doubt the birds are even ready to sing. 

It took a while, but soon she’ll be walking up to meet me.  I could stand here forever in the cold, just knowing she’s coming.  She phoned and told me she’ll be on her way.  The truck is near.  She never would get that muffler fixed, I can always tell it’s her.  This will be a redo of the meeting we had planned after Thanksgiving.  We could then leave our families behind and meet again.  But there seems to always be something pulling us apart.  

This time I can hear her coming so I know we can revisit the feelings we once had years ago.  Years before either of us got tangled up in circumstances and other people.  It’s our time now, we’ve put in our dutifulness to family.  This is a time just for us.

The truck stopped on the road.  A man got out and came up the path.  Puzzled, I went halfway to meet him.  I saw clearly it was her truck.  “So you’re the guy who thinks he’s going to meet my wife?  Think again!”

Daily Prompt:Nuance

Nothing coming from the current USA government is nuanced. I wish it was. I can’t keep quiet and positive with the way things are done. It’s very clear where we are going as a nation. Apologies to the rest of the world including our best neighbors who will probably build their own walls, Canada and Mexico.

The ‘Greatest’ Healthcare??? HaHaHaHaHa …

Okay, maybe it’s time to take the gloves off and get political! This madness has to stop!

Well, well, well … it would appear that Trump & Co. have finally come up with what he earlier said would be “the greatest” healthcare, that it would “provide insurance for everybody … much less expensive and much better … “.  And this …  “I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.”

Yesterday, it was announced that after nearly two months in office, the “plan” is finally unveiled in all its splendor.  Only one slight problem … if I may be a tad crude for just a moment … it sucks.  It sucks and nobody likes it.  It will cost all of us, except, of course, that infamous 1% at the top of the food chain, more, and many more of us will be…
