FFftPP Week 26 – Trapped Without

Trying to reach through the fog

I am trapped outside my memories

Hidden within my outer persona

I dare not let you discover

How much I no longer know for sure

How hard I’m trying to rekindle

Thoughts that I see pass by in an instant

Reaching, trying to grab them before they disappear

The circuits in my brain no longer connect to let me see

The way I want to remember you.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying
    When I was a child
    I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
    The child is grown
    The dream is gone
