The bridge was barely visible under the guise of red dust. He was used to this unending sunset filled atmosphere since the invasion. It was the year 2050, and even being only thirteen, he had seen most of his family and friends disappear. The initial attack was unexpected and deadly. He was just a child then and they considered him harmless, letting him live, but for what? The children that survived were put into backbreaking jobs that the aliens didn’t want.

He saw the now useless structure through the red haze, wondering why it also survived.
