Gathered for drinks
Laughter abound
You would think
All was merry, but in fact
They were keeping feelings in tact
Sideways glances, secret smirks
All of these in the works
While seeming truthful, you could be misled
The thoughts that reside in these pretty heads
Jealousy, envy, judgment for sure
Hidden by the outside allure
Of fake smiles, not giving pander
There’s not a bit of plain candor.

Thanks for joining in with the Weekend Writing Prompt. Great poem – I wouldn’t want to be friends with them either 🙂
