The tree rarely spoke to humans, usually just animals heard his words. Today he watched the old man for a while. Struggling to walk his dog that foggy morning, the tree felt his pain with empathy.

“Do not worry, old one. I too have that pain of years. I too have been neglected, but here I still stand, shading you in summer, and a place to lean upon and rest in the cold. In autumn I will be a place to sit and revel in colors of my leaves, and in spring I will bring you the newfound joy and promise of bright new buds. Take your time old one, and reap the changes of life.”

MLMM Wordle #160

All the smart men in the world gathered for their scheduled morning meeting in the glass dome. Here they felt the pleasant beams of the filtered air would inspire their creativity. In the dome, the vicissitudes of life didn’t touch them, and they were left free to contemplate benignity.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt 12-08-19

I think of you even without physical touch. In these moments I remember what your touch feels like, how it is soft and warm and loving. I think of how I nestled in your neck, wanting to be so close we were one. It seems I can feel this even when you’re not here with me. Knowing how I feel without speaking and then responding, is only a small part of our intimacy.

Chili Day

Yes it’s home alone today

Used to be fun back in the day

Decorating done, still have wrapping

Shopping remains and Christmas vamping

๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ„

Now it’s just what can I afford

I have quite a large hoard

But homemade treats may save my day

Their favorites I cook to give away.

๐Ÿฅฎ๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿง๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿช

There are many readers in my family

So Barnes and Noble gift cards might be

Something I know they will love

And I won’t need to rely on my stove.

๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽ

Relaxing, reading, while this chilly day, scents of chili wafting in my house.

The Dollar Doeth

“You’ll die by fire for your sins! Repent now or suffer!” Trying to help his hell and damnation story make a point, the preacher jumped down from his box and ran up close to a nicely suited gentleman passing by the crowd.

“People, I ask you to open your heart to this man, on the grounds he is apparently here to ask forgiveness. Sir, surely you know money is the root of all evil!”

A line of hunger starved peasants started filling in the gaps around the well dressed gentleman, frightning him. The intimidation he felt took him by surprise.

“Stand back” the preacher warned, as the gentleman seemed to choke on his cigar. “We can’t know if this man is a sinner by the look of his clothes! He may be able to fly into heaven, himself!”

With that said, the preacher took the scared man aside, exchanged a few words, and the man stuffed something in the preacher’s pocket. The man left and walked quickly into the nearest establishment.

The preacher ran back up on the box and yelled, “See? Anyone can be saved!”
