Children, shopping, playing, eating, and relaxing.

With a quick brush of her unruly hair, Stella was ready for the trip to the cabin. She was to meet her new boyfriend for a weekend getaway. It was her quest to not look the perfect corporate lawyer he thought he knew. She wanted to appear shy and vulnerable.

This is a significant week for me, for in 1966, ancient memories of a young woman and a GI going to the PX to buy an engagement ring. I was shy and picked out a simple white gold with small diamond. I’m still not a fan of big jewelry or clustered diamonds. My choice was a plain gold band, but my fiancé wanted to buy a diamond ring for me. Since we were going to be separated after that week for four months, it was nice to look at it and dream. I’m still wearing the plain gold band but the diamond ring is long gone. I have never taken the band off and don’t think I could, emotionally.
I know the Prompt is wire and my thoughts have been on the above event as they are every year during this week, but for the prompt I would offer how wired people seem to be in the stores these days. Dangerous already and I’m glad I’m not going out in it. It is scary thinking about living here with the open carry law, and seems everyone feels free to display weapons everywhere, that these wired people may get carried away. At least we do not have crowded cities here. Stay healthy and safe and definitely keep your sense of humor.

Keep up, Henry! We don’t want to be the last ones getting in! It’s hot and will be crowded. I want a seat upfront near the fans!
Poor old Henry absolutely hated these excursions with Martha. Who wants to see another home full of antiques owned by a supercilious author!

Very much enjoyed this book, by one of WP’s own authors – lunasonline@wordpress.com

If the music didn’t get any better he was going to take that pill Kelsey kept offering him. It wouldn’t be like it was the first time. He adjusted his headphones and sat back in his seat. It was her birthday after all and we were all there to help her celebrate. The fact that Kelsey was the only one who actually enjoyed this type of music and the idea of the rest of us going with her, now seemed a bad choice. For the amount of money, we could have just given her front row tickets and let her choose someone to go with her. Instead, we all sat uncomfortably enduring the so-called music.
Maybe he should take the offered pill after all. He knew from experience it would settle him into a semi sleep state and he could just listen to Bach on his headphones in peace.

This may not be captivating, but was on my mind when I couldn’t sleep because of a stomach ache which is better today.
Other Halves
Every realize you can’t do without
The other half? Can’t re-route?
Can’t say one without the other
Why is this I wonder?
You can’t have
Spic without span
Kick without can
Jack without Jill
Peanut without butter
Toast without jam
Flim without flam
Bada-bing without bada-boom
Bath without room
Fink without rat
This without that
Basket without ball
Big without small
To without fro
Curly without Moe
Two without three
You without me.

Your turn, any ideas?

“It’s none of your concern” she said sharply to a young man offering help. Pushing the cart up the sidewalk, she strained at the weight and slight incline of the cement. This was a daily occurrence for the homeless woman but she never dared be away from her tawdry possessions that overflowed the conveyance. She refused care of help from strangers and preferred isolation. After years of being hounded and used by an uncaring family, the life she led by herself was not an unhappy one.

I was thinking as I read Bikergurl’s post today that it might be good if we all keep in touch with each other on the virus conditions in our personal areas. For instance I live in Wyoming and so far so good, except for panic shopping. Not a thermometer in sight and even on Amazon they say April at least.
I think honest “reporting” by us bloggers would be more reliable than the news outlets.
What do you think? Yea or nay?
