Song Lyric Sunday

***

For this week I choose an emotional song I heard on the car radio years ago. When I was a young mother of three, I could understand well the feelings expressed here. Carrie Underwood singing “Jesus, Take the Wheel”.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt 3-15-20

Traveling from Albany, New York which I flew to, to Tampa, Florida for our dad’s wedding was quite an adventure. Some of us had never been out of New England and going through the southern states like Georgia was a long road to hoe.

Although traveling in a crowded car doesn’t really boost your appetite, we decided to stop at a diner for breakfast. I was used to the southern accent but my sisters were not. The waitress yelled our orders to the back where the cook stood and we had to keep ourselves stifled as our tired giggling took over when she reported, “Aigs, ovuh wayell, and greits?” Grits also an unknown, but ordered them. Biscuits and gravy were delicious!

A lot of adventure in this trip as four (separated by distance) grown women were suddenly thrown together in close quarters for a week or so. It seemed longer. Oh the stories. . .😄

As a teenager, the town diner was my favorite place to eat Sunday dinner with my folks.

Sunday Whirl 3-15-20

Proving again what a flake he is, gathered to meet the press today, trying to turn and twist the wheel one more time in his favor. The phrase, “I had no idea, I didn’t know”, etc. rang out again. Medical experts sad with the thought their advice was not listened to. The teachers of the world sigh, hearing “We’ve never had this experience before” as his lack of knowledge and history tread on the graves of our elders. Will there be a ping of brain power, or must we all fall under this break in leadership?

dVerse Poets Prosery

“I don’t know why I was surprised every time love started or ended.”

It could have been those eyes, or the always ready smile, friendly attitude or personality. All or even one summoned me to your side. I was already in love, with someone else I knew well or so I thought. Distance does alter things, I advise you to be warned. Circumstances making fools of us as usual, things started to change and I was alone again.

Meeting new people in a different atmosphere was a respite from loneliness—seeing you for an instant, not knowing who you were, if I might see you again, but longed to, was the key to my attraction. I was proven wrong again.

We are all muddled souls looking for someone to make the world seem okay for a while, and thought I had found it in you. I don’t know why I was surprised every time love started or ended.

Monday Peeve

Just watched the president’s news conference, showing just how stupid he is.  He actually said he knew nothing….remind you of Sergeant Schultz?….about the CoronaVirus until a month ago. What? He also said the US has never experienced anything like this before…again, what? I guess that proves he’s never read a history book in his leisure time in Florida.

A pet peeve is the billions of dollars to help corporations during the stock market fiasco when funds for free school lunches and supplies for every child in every school in the US goes unfunded. Not mentioning free vaccines and healthcare for the poor and disadvantaged.

Power Outage Sunday

Electricity out until three-thirty this afternoon, now WiFi struggling to get itself in order, so I really am stuck. Luckily I have three books to read. But having everything electric in my apartment is really not great. When I had a gas stove, I had no problem cooking or keeping warm from the oven. Now it’s much different. My biggest worry was how long my freezer would maintain a good temperature since of course I just stocked it this week and it’s pretty full. How spoiled am I?

If I was in the mountains I would have an icy stream to keep things cool, a fireplace to keep warm, and a beautiful view to look at or play in, but of course that is only a dream. (Sigh)

Monday at noon, WiFi restored. Century Link said an ice storm blew it out. Uh, huh, it’s fifty degrees 🙄. What blows it out is the cheap bad wiring in this building.

Im sorry if it takes me a while to read and respond to your writings.🥰

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt 3-14-20

It’s a privilege to get a good night’s sleep, as the older I get, especially the less active I am. Dreams are another thing, nightmares the worst when you wake up suddenly and hope it is not actually happening.

Taking our three children camping, close quarters in a tent or camper meant a parent’s sleepless adventure. It was amazing to hear my fully asleep children converse as if they were awake, while staying safely in their sleeping bags.
