MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt – Remains of War

He lay down the mask for a moment. Memories of those days of war and the friends he lost flooded his mind. Childhood days of toys, bikes and valentines, all seemed distant. Sighing a final goodbye to those adventures, he adjusted the mask. Stepping forward to the edge of the trench, suddenly saw a butterfly grace the roses that grew wildly here, as if trying to redeem the ravages of war. There would be many a tear to fall as the remains were removed for a decent burial.

Need Something Different?

Movies, old and new, I love them! One of my favorite characters is Auntie Mame. I wanted to be her!😄

“Auntie Mame” was based on the novel of the same name by Edward Everett Tanner 3d, who wrote under the pen name Patrick Dennis (the same name as Mame’s nephew in the play). Tanner said that his book was based on his aunt, a real-life bon vivant and eccentric named Marion Tanner.

The Sunday Whirl 4-19-20

Fire and damnation to shock the shy and lift the dream of self righteous parishioners. That was the preacher’s plan, torn from the weathered bible he displayed from an upright fist. Not even a tiny bit of remorse as the stricken came to mourn their sick and dead from the world’s crises.

The stories told in a harsh voice had a lock on salvation, truth, and light, according to the evangelist. The poor straggled into the tent, their coins confiscated at the door, while the “purveyor of truth” was in the back counting his coffers.

Proudly, he stood in front of the “sinners” overflowing the tent again and again hurling versed revelations, warnings and threats to encourage more donations from the audience.

Price Gauging

How sensitive are these manufacturers! 😱 Where are their guidelines? I guess they are taking a page from the Trump book:

Practice, practice is the only way to be good at something. That’s what “they” say. I guess that’s true in piano lessons, gymnastics, dance, singing, even writing. And not to ruin a so far sunny day spouting love and caring in my previous posts, I would say, so does hate and hate mongering. A baby is not born to hate or distrust others by their looks or speech. It is a long performed practice by the parents and their parents, for generations. We need this to stop.
