I took the sheet and draped it over
Not expecting what I’d discover
Started to feel a presence hover.
Even with the light beside
I felt I should run and hide
They’re real! The grownups must have lied
When suddenly my sheet lifted up
A ghostly sight holding a cup
Drifted near, sat next to me
Offering a cup of tea
He was a friendly ghostly being
Could not believe what I was seeing
Wasn’t scary and I wasn’t fleeing
Strange but true this Halloween tale
This ghostly friend didn’t fail
To prove you can’t judge a ghost by its cover.

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge- “in the fading light”
Escaping in the fading light I see that face, the evil atop your building. No warning not to enter meant to scare me–the transformation from friendly statue to horror figure, was seen too late.
Interesting, the way you seemed to finagle your way into my mind, only to finally reject my response. What swamp of a life you must lead to entice, entangle, only to rebuke and retreat to your nest.
The horror shown in the gargoyle’s face could only be seen in twilight, after your trap was set and I fell, ensnared.

A map I put on a few weeks ago and the one today reflect our state leaders’ failures, vs our neighbor state of Colorado where masks have been required everywhere! I said earlier that our lackadaisical approach was dangerous and now look at us. Our small county of Laramie (far right lower corner) had an increase of two hundred cases between September 24 and October 13. Most people adamantly refuse to wear masks and our government leadership has not cared to change this. The red label reads “unchecked community spread”. Sadly, no surprise. You don’t need to be a scientist or doctor to acknowledge the results of poor management.
