Trick or Treat

I donned my mermaid costume

Set up my crystal ball

Halloween’s a-comin’ (Golden Girls ref)

And I want to see it all

All the kids in costumes, maybe skeletons or ghosts

And love the homemade ones hidden under coats

It always snowed on Halloween

That fate made all kids cry

No one would see their costumes

When bundled to the eyes

Every treat was inspected

When tampering suspected–but

This year no funny clowns or angels seen afoot

No scary goblins or bloody masks for which to root

Lockdown surely necessary, and I agree

Our kids are all older but I worry for the wee

They love the fun of dressing up

Being what they wish this day

Maybe if they wait, next year IT will be gone away.

Carve those pumpkins, eat some sugar, dance along

Turn up “Thriller” – Michael Jackson’s famous song.

That’s my advice,

Please think twice–

Stay home, stay safe.

Mending

My heart is in recovery

Since I lifted up your mask

Your promises unkept–

Failure of important tasks.

Initially so sublime this life time,

I never imagined happier,

My heart now permanently pierced

By your intentioned rapier.

Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – Foresight

(Hindsight is good, foresight is better; but second sight is best of all.)

***

Stagnant as green algae

Covering a pond

Everyone wants to know

What’s lying there beyond

Waiting around the corner

Hidden by the bend

Might be a bright future

Or maybe your life’s end

No crystal ball will help you

No wish upon a star

For what it was and what it is

Your meddling might mar

Humans try to push their fate

In a positive direction

But animals have the clue

They wisely skip deflection.

SoCS 10-17-20

After a week and a half of being cornered with stomach flu, food poisoning or whatever it is, I am still feeling under the weather and our weather has already started strong cold winds, typical Cheyenne wintery weather, making everyone’s life miserable. But soccer is still on and even a 58 degree temp is chilling with the wind.

That aside, besides finally eating a little BRAT diet, with no taste and yucky Gatorade, I think I’ll live. I think. That’s why I have not posted or commented much. This morning I got a good laugh from Mr. Bump’s comment which sparked a few posts, so they are all coming at once. I have to say those comments can really lift my day. Thanks, guys!

As far as a word I usually have to look up, (my soggy or maybe dried up this week) brain has a problem with the I before E concept. I can usually look at it and see it looks weird, like the word: weird, which I often use because most of the people I love are all weird.

Now as I look at it, πŸ™„, it does look weird, or maybe I’m just hallucinating from no food and too much tylenol. I refuse to look it up!πŸ€―πŸ™„πŸ‘‹
