It’s not Christmas till you have watched “Elf”😄
***

‘Twas the day before Christmas, feeling grumpy
My breakfast oats were much too lumpy
I really wanted some decorations
On these horns of mine for a declaration:
I’m big, I’m strong, beautiful to see, but I need a bell, a ribbon, or three
Some lights would be nice on these magnificent horns
Without them I look a bit forlorn.
It’s the holidays—Christmas to be specific
I think I deserve something terrific!
And if you walk by, stop to say hello
I’ll answer with my hearty bellow
If feeling generous, you might bring a treat
I think that would be neat.

I remember a very short stint of smoking Newports with my roommate in NH in 1965. My father smoked three packs of Lucky Strikes every day. One time he was driving me and asked me if I was smoking. Like all people who sneak smoking, I never thought anyone could tell–wrong!🙄
I looked up the age needed to buy cigarettes in 1965.
Cigarettes were actively marketed to younger people, they were largely socially acceptable and, as Apollonio and Glantz report, by the 1960s the tobacco industry had decided that 18 was a reasonable limit to fight to maintain.
Prior to 1991 the minimum age to purchase tobacco products was 16 years of age, then in 2000 was raised from 16 to 18 and yet again was raised from 18 to 21 in 2020.
Have you ever smoked and what age did you have your first cigarette?

I woke up and I felt tired. Tired of 2020, Trump, Covid, and being in lockdown. My family is only a short distance downtown, but I can’t go there. My granddaughter doctor won’t let me get out to stores etc. I miss the busyness of the holidays. I’ve been binge watching series I downloaded before now. My sense of humor and creativity is stretched to the limit. But hey, I’m healthy and safe, so am grateful for that. Feeling nostalgic today. The photo is my oldest sister and husband back from their honeymoon in December 1948. Aren’t they gorgeous?💚❤️

1. My favorite cookie/biscuit is a hermit. My mom used to make them and I can’t find them anywhere now.

2. This is an odd question because I can’t think of one age to be. I had great times at every age.
3. As a couple, we used to have parties for the neighborhood during the holidays. We had a rum infused eggnog punch that was my husband’s specialty.
4. Until 2013 when my husband died of cancer, yes. Since then, it’s been a hard row to hoe.
5. As always, every day, I am grateful for having food, shelter, clothing and safety, but most of all, the love of my family.

FYI: every time I try to leave a comment it looks like it goes through and then says, “this comment could not be posted”. I am reading and trying, though. Merry Christmas guys!💚🎄❤️⛄️

After the wrapping
After wine napping
After the lights
After sleepless nights
After Trump being a grinch
After 2020, it’s no cinch
After what we’ve seen
To relax in slow speed.
