Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Ours not to question why, ours but to do or die, my version of a phrase from “The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. I admit saying this sometimes to my kids when my actions were questioned with “why?” because an unpleasant task had to be done. The inevitable never ending questions from the moment your child first speaks, and goes on forever until you finally retort with “Because I said so!” I know it’s not the ideal perfect parents’ response.

SoCS Body Parts🎃

What day is it anyway? It’s Friday, damn it, but I’m apparently up in the clouds, Anyway, I’m finally here with your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. I’m happy to announce Alex is back at school. He hasn’t complained about his stomach and I’m not reminding him to, but I’m still waiting to see what his test says on Monday. Anyhoo, here’s your prompt for this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “body parts.”Pick a body part and talk about it. Make sure to leave a comment below or put a disclaimer at the top of your post if it’s NSFW! There are people who participate in SoCS and love to support others, but not every one will want to read about private parts. Have fun!

Okay is this trick or treat? Cause believe me there’s no part of my body that isn’t a trick and certainly no treat😅. Hauling around a 75 year body in a scooter may sound funny to you and well yes I have to admit it has it’s moments —like yesterday when I leaned over the front to reach the kitchen faucet, caught a bra strap on the backup lever and ended up in the living room before I could get it untangled. Yes I was dressed—get your mind out of the gutter😂and yes I need to turn it off before moving around on it. But where’s the fun in that? I like to live dangerously, like Dr. Nefario.

Parkour Stunts

I was curious as to how long it took to film the opening sequence of 2006 “Casino Royale” and here it is. Six weeks! This was the first 007 movie starring Daniel Craig – my favorite Bond actor btw.

***

The opening parkour chase is one of Casino Royale’s most spectacular set pieces– one of the most exciting in the entire franchise, in fact– and it took a whopping six weeks to shoot. Sep 24, 2020 screenrant.com

Spider Web

Intricate, beautiful, I agree,

It’s what it holds that bothers me.

No comfort for the likes of me,

When it’s a cobweb that I see.

There’s no leeway, I’ll need assistance

To keep this creature its distance.

MLMM First Line Friday

“Whatever you do, you can’t do that.”

“Try me!” Joe reached for the fuse and lit the match. His Halloween was going to be spectacular this year. It had to be since the school was closed, no one was wearing costumes, and the whole town was engulfed in snow.

His finger wagging parent was not quick enough and the firework fuse was burning. They both dived behind a tree, waiting to see what would happen.

Suddenly a loud boom and the sky lit up with a huge orange Jack-o’-lantern. Joe’s dad just started laughing.

This week’s prompt is: Independence

***

I became semi independent at age 18 getting a good job and living in a boarding house. Then married, and raised three children. I was only forced to be truly independent after my husband died in 2013.

I had worked outside the home, started two businesses and earned my own money in our married years. While my husband was alive and working his job provided me the ability to work or not outside our home. After our kids left for college it was important for me to to do that.

Being what I would call an independent personality, it’s not always what it’s cracked up to be. In the 60s and 70s women were frowned upon for being independent. Now I tell my granddaughters “girl power”!

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 22 – Ogre Orange

What’s your favorite they always ask

Sometimes answering is a task

I love a lot, not just people or things

And animals, and what life brings

If we’re talking colors, red is a fave

Picking a shirt, it’s blue or green I crave

I guess I’m also attracted to brown

I’m not into colors worn by clowns

Purple, yellow, I can do without

Rust is worn, gives me clout

Now black is slimming I agree

Good for my figure – bodily

Green and blue clothes that match my eyes

Receiving compliments a nice surprise

But even being a Broncos fan

Ogre orange was always planned

While watching the game it was all at our feet

Orange crush soda and orange treats

Orange shirts and orange food

If seen without it, you were rude.

Denver’s colors have often changed

But we old “orange crushers” still remain.

Three Line Tales

“Okay George, it wasn’t funny last night and it’s not funny now! And stop fooling around, get back to that garden work!”

I like scaring you. . ,” advancing with a weird voice she had not heard before.

“Okay, just stop it! George, I mean it! Stop! George, George? Is that you?”

The Man Behind the Curtain

“Senate Republicans blocked Democrats’ latest effort to introduce voting rights legislation.Democrats say the bill is needed to ensure national standards for voting so that all have access to ballots. Republicans disagree, saying it’s an unlawful overreach by the federal government into the rights of states to manage their own elections.” NPR- https://www.npr.org/

***

The latest gnarl on the congressional tree is an effort to regurgitate old voting laws pre-1965 and once again suppress the rights of all citizens to have a voice. They may think themselves noble while sitting in their privileged cloud of euphoria, but it will only cause more chaos. This is a rickety bridge to cross and will cause further unrest and violence.

You know my views on Trump and I wonder what exactly is he getting out of causing all this unrest? Why aren’t republicans with brains fighting him and his ideas? Is he the puppet master or wizard of OZ?
