Sitting on the lily pad

Just a lonely guy

Hoping for summer romance as the days whiz by

It’s only a small pond he thinks, there should be many girls to spy

But every female frog he sees just paddles right on by

Suddenly he sees a flash of green coming up on his left side

She hops right on beside him and speaks

He thinks he’s about to die

Hi there cutie, mind if I sit here with you

And that is when he noticed she had lovely eyes of blue.

I have to say I love pie

One that’s pleasing to the eye

Let’s talk about lemon meringue

A bit sweet with a lot of tang

The colors are beyond compare

Bright sunshine,white clouds; it has flair

And then the rhubarb, chunky and tart

I must admit this one has my heart

Straight from the garden cooked in a pot

It is heavenly, is it not?

A Texas neighbor made chocolate cream

The taste made you think it ‘twas obscene

Only a small bit of white on top

The dark chocolate flavor didn’t stop.

Of course I would be amiss

If I forgot the USA’s kiss

Of apple, tart but also sweet

With added cinnamon makes it a treat

All the fillings, fruit or cream

Wouldn’t make pie as good as it seems

If the crust was dull, soggy or limp

Needs a fine pastry with curled edge as a primp.

These are our family’s choices for celebrations or holidays:

1. Turkey and dressing

2. Ham or BBQ burgers

3. Cake or Pie

4. Sweet and white potatoes

5. Fruit salad

Pretty simple home cooking for a large group, but everyone is happy with the tradition and the person being celebrated always has their favorites by flavor, etc.☺️

I stood there in front of the tree, remembering the day my friend Bob decided to prove the rest of us all cowards as he jumped on that bike. He drove without a helmet or proper clothes and I even saw him wearing flip flops one time. He drove fast and recklessly, just the way he did everything in life, wild and carefree. Me and our other friends had stricter parents and we wouldn’t ever want to be caught riding a motorcycle, but Bob’s parents? They just let him do whatever he wanted. I think they regret that now. They decided to leave the bike right where the fatal accident happened as a memorial of sorts and a reminder to other kids.
