5 Things Tuesday

(Would no qualify as skills)

1. Shopping in an actual store which now I find I miss the interaction.

2. Shaking hands, greeting strangers.

3. Cooking. I think probably this has increased for most but I don’t cook much for just myself.

4. Ambition. I feel I have been depressed with the pandemic, politics and general hateful attitudes of everyone that has increased the last few years.

5. Staying positive. Going along with the above thoughts, my creativity has also suffered.

Journal

I admire people who can journal. I’ve tried a few times and ended up here on the blog to spout my life. Lately I’m finding it hard to even write prompt responses, I don’t know why exactly. I received a Christmas gift requiring a weekly response to a certain question and then the company will print them all and bind it.

The blog is daring enough. Am I sure I want future family reading my private responses? Would you? When I first started, one of my sister’s daughters printed out my blog posts and said they loved the stories. Hmmm maybe I’ve run out of stories? Hmmm.

Trump is not and never was…King!😡

He won! Unbelievable in itself, he opened the handbook, well worn from use by all of his idols including Hitler, often quoted in pre -election speeches and phrases memorized by his minions. Even his orderly cohorts were mesmerized by its contents. This would be a piece of cake—expensive, but his tax fraud would cover most of it.

“The House committee investigating the January attack on the Capitol is investigating a Trump administration plan to seize voting machines in battleground states. The order would have directed the secretary of defense to “seize, collect, retain and analyze all machines, equipment, electronically stored information, and material records required for retention.””

Word of the Day: Sketches

Thinking back on life I often see it in grey sketches. A little brighter here, a little smudged there, darkened outlining of certain memories, all composing a life well lived.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

***

Helen’s daily routine would suddenly be uprooted by another’s secret wish. Settling into her overstuffed chair with a latte and latest library find, her Sunday seemed complete, and then…

In the opposite apartment a sad woman also sat, staring at her clock. She glowered until the hands were in widdershins, determined to retrieve time. Possibly taking days, she wouldn’t stop til the morning her husband’s accident occurred was found. She knew she could save him.

The Sunday Whirl

***

The large orb started to quiver, finally cracking open to reveal a shimmering starlike object. “We reached into space, and this is supposed to be the solution, a way to triumph over our predicament? Ridiculous!” And then the doctor sighed, his colleagues’ hopes undone in a moment.

Scientists had previously argued, but settled on retrieving a single star to solve the problem of climate change. It had come to a critical phase and now people were losing their home environments and others were simply dying, not able to adjust.

The expansive project was a last effort. Earth was dying and a new source had to be found. The population steadily increased even though everyone was aware living conditions were deteriorating. The object retrieved from the solar system was supposed to be the answer. It would filter the air to make hostile environments livable again.

Dr. Jones covered his face with his hands. “I’m sorry, I thought this was a crazy idea from the start, but I had hoped…” Suddenly the orb started glowing, emitting a “healing light” was how it was described later. It mysteriously grew until it rose into the atmosphere, completely covering the planet.

Surviving

Is what the majority of people with low to middle incomes are doing in this year three of the pandemic. Every workplace is asking for help and there seems to be no one applying for these jobs. What is the reason?

Did people get used to the stipend provided in the beginning of the pandemic? It was certainly small and short lived, or did the idea of lazing around in pajamas on their computer/work/zoom days just ruin their ambition? I think we all know at least one of these people.

Meanwhile prices are high and constantly rising for basics required to live but also shortages make shopping difficult. And meat/poultry, even seafood recalls make me at least, wary of buying any of that. Being vaccinated and masked, keeping home, and shopping online only to be done in by E-coli? It’s almost a cruel joke!

Surviving is our hope while enduring climate change, pandemics, ridiculous dangerous politicians and our biased US Supreme Court.
