A2Z Challenge – Albright

Albright

“Madeleine Albright, née Marie Jana Korbel, (born May 15, 1937, Prague, Czechoslovakia [now in the Czech Republic]—died March 23, 2022, Washington, D.C., U.S.), Czech-born American public official who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations(1993–97) and who was the first woman to hold the cabinet post of U.S. secretary of state (1997–2001).”

“As Secretary of State, Albright promoted the expansion of NATO eastward into the former Soviet bloc nations and the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons from the former Soviet republics to rogue nations, successfully pressed for military intervention under NATO auspices during the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo in 1999, supported the expansion of free-market democratization and the creation of civil societies in the developing world, favored the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol on Global Climate Change, and furthered the normalization of relations with Vietnam.”

I wanted her to be President but of course she was not born in the USA. Instead we had “upstanding” citizens like Trump who had the honor.🙄😳😵‍💫

Sijo – Guard

You should use the word in the title of this post as your inspiration as either a theme of the Sijo or in the poem itself.

There are:

  • Three Lines
  • 14-16 syllables per line
  • A total of 44-46 syllables for the entire poem.

To know how many syllables in a particular word try HowManySyllables.com.

  • The first line of the Sijo usually sets the theme.
  • The second line elaborates on the first line.
  • The third line brings the poem matter to a close.

The setting can be nature, a favorite season, or some event of your day. Something, as I mentioned above that can be contemplative in nature.

Guard against the obvious idea, trite analysts’ speech

Your common sense and intuition, should always rule the day

Consider loved ones’ influence, but make your own decisions

I Don’t Get it

Starting out the day reading blog posts which is my usual routine, a definite relish from the news, and then I use prompts to write something of my own. The conjecture being that someone might read and get a laugh or a think.🤓. In my process I copy the prompt words in the title space temporarily as a guide to make sure I use them all.

As you can see by the above image, something strange happened and now the title space is only allowing a few words unlike my previous experience. There’s some sort of weird black symbol? appearing when I try to write in more. As usual, “I don’t get it”. Any ideas?
