“Far be it for me…(words usually followed by unsolicited advice from an old person when they really want to say:do as I say)…to contradict your opinion or rekindle old wounds…certainly not, but do you really think purple is the right choice?”
“Mom, when I made the decision of withdrawal from my first marriage, I vowed the days of a false pure white wedding gown was not for me. The white dress is only a metaphor.
“Well I just don’t want you sending the wrong message!”
“And what message is that? That I’m in love and passionate about being married to someone who feels the same?”
Finally, mom gave up, realizing she was wrong.
