TV Viewing

What country do you live in?
How many televisions do you have in your home?
On average, how many hours a day do you watch TV?
What kinds of programs do you typically watch (e.g., news, sports, movies, dramas, sitcoms, reality shows)?
Do you watch programs as they are aired or do you record them and watch them at other times?
Do you mostly watch “network” TV? Premium cable channels (e.g., HBO, Showtime)? Streaming channels (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple+)?
How often, if at all, do you use other devices than television (e.g., computers, smartphones) to watch programs

1. I live in the Western United States

2. I have one in the living room

3. Two to four hours some days, some days none

4. Dramas and Movies

5. I don’t have a recorder

6. I watch PBS dramas/specials, not regular networks

7. I have Netflix and Prime and some others gifted or shared to me

8. I used my iPad when my old tv stopped working. Now, never.

Most networks have commercials which I hate so don’t watch “regular” television. Usually I watch one movie in the evening on a streaming network.

Fandango’s Who Won the Week

After receiving their white doctor’s coats, dozens of incoming
medical students at the University of Michigan walked out in
protest of a keynote speaker with anti-abortion beliefs.

In total, he guessed, 35 to 40% of the audience took part in the walkout.

“The overall message that the students wanted to push was that reproductive rights, abortion, is health care,” Scorpio said. “Reproductive rights for anyone who is able to give birth are incredibly important and should be something that’s allowed to everyone in the country.”

dVerse Poetics – Hot Night

Write a poem on any topic in any poetic form, that includes at least one of the flavors of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream in the list above. You must use the words exactly as they appear in the flavor name. No words in between them; no changing the tense of the words or making them plural or possessive. You may however, add punctuation before, between or after the words in the flavor.

Sipping his urban bourbon nightcap hoping for a better day

Possibly a cool brittania

He had walked through the urban jumble that morning

Sidewalks so hot they buckled like wavy gravy,

Feet sticking slightly in the dastardly mash

Feeling half-baked from the season’s heat wanting solace

A cool late night snack might soothe

“This is nuts” he thought, longing for Miz Jelena’s sweet potato pie or a sugar plum

Instead deciding no sleep would come, chose a coffee coffee buzzbuzzbuzz, settling with a book.

From a children’s perspective

Sunk in a theater seat

A Disney feature is seen as a treat

The hero or heroine aptly displayed

Beautiful always, the images made

And when back home in reality, they think it’s a dream

A dreamlike culture made for them to believe

Native Americans

Babies wrapped in buffalo robes
Their eyes wrapt in horror
Wild-eyed as the only loved ones they’ve ever known
Violently fall, struck down by rifle bullets or ropes wrapped around necks
While previously unknown white men exercise their soldiers’ “right”—
Eradicate the brown people

Six Sentence Stories

***

The Headache

She added the bookmark into the pages of the weathered leather volume to remember what she needed to do next. The last didn’t take as long as she initially thought. The planning however, which weapon to choose, and how to secretly procure it, took the most time. They say poison is a woman’s choice but that was so overdone. She needed something new, if there was such a thing. A cell phone rigged with an electric probe to quietly enter the ear and then disappear back into the phone worked perfectly.
