The crow sat atop the small tombstone, as usual talking incessantly about the afterlife to the only remaining creatures who could stand to listen, Chunky the squirrel and Chewy, the rabbit. Both must have been desperate for company as they sat there, seemingly mesmerized by Chatty the crow. They didn’t provide any feedback except for the occasional “uh huh”, indicating they were still listening.

The only slight spark came from behind another grave marker, an old gray crumbling one which was actually a ghost incognito. “I see you are philosophizing again, Chatty. Perhaps they’d like to hear from some who’s actually been there.”

It was only through chemicals that Dr. Jansen thought he could achieve the level of deep investigation he needed. Previously trying LSD and other illegal drugs had barely scratched the surface.
