grateful for your visit
cooling winter sun
breaks through wispy clouds
trod lightly through this autumn path

Following her scripted lines, “I just can’t decide,” Sharon spoke to her fellow actor, Pete, and then strangely, started to cackle, facing the crowd. Pete’s mind boggled as he heard her strange utterance. Then her solitary scream shattered the room and several others that had gathered at the side of the stage stared. They stood in horror as Susan started clawing at her face with blood spewing from her mouth, but her devilish laugh continued. It was only the quiet woman on the opposite stage exit that was secretly smiling. Her time as Susan’s understudy was over today.

I finally received notice this was available from my library. I found it by looking at the books narrated by one of my faves, Ray Porter. I am not disappointed. It is surprising to learn all that went on after the planes struck the towers. Probably like most, I never realized.
“The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland is a 2002 oral history of the small town of Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in the wake of the September 11 attacks written by journalist Jim DeFede It is the first book authored by DeFede.” Originally published: 2002. For this prompt, write a poem inspired by a vision, dream, or both. If you want, you can return to Blake’s “dreams of infants” – perhaps you remember a recurring dream (or nightmare) from childhood which might inspire your poem. Or write about a more recent dream which affected you in some way. If you have ever been fortunate enough to have seen visions, don’t hold back – write about them, let them inspire your muse. I want this to be an expansive, rather than restrictive exercise, so please, take Blake’s advice: “Damn braces; Bless relaxes” (Proverbs of Hell, 1793). In other words – use any form you choose, and write whatever words you feel, so long as they are influenced by dreams and/or visions of past, present or future!

lying beside you
my hesitant touch offered
are you really here
often the dream continues
no past true reality

Interesting to me because my husband and friends were “oilmen”. I also like the main character/actor Iain Glen.

This week’s Story Starter teaser is: ONCE HIS DREAM OF A LIFE TOGETHER WITH HER FADED AS HE REALIZED THAT HIS LOVE FOR HER WAS UNREQUITED, HE KNEW HE HAD TO …bite the bullet. It was rumored to be an expression by some doctor standing over a soldier who needs treatment without pain meds. This would definitely be one of those times. Harry didn’t actually have any bullets which was probably a good thing. He did, however, have five hundred dollars left on their joint credit card and tonight he was going to party!
