I was on top, she was below

An old wooden sled, she’s steering, wind blows

Our faves are freezing, we’re going fast

My job was to keep an eye for cars to pass

A hilly slope, a covered dirt road

I was supposed to let her know

A trick came to mind on that snowy slope

There’s a car coming I yelled like a dope

She headed quick and straight for the bank

The plowed snow was hard like a plank

We landed stiff as boards

Head first in the snow banked side of the road.

Monday Poetry Prompt: Winter Storm

Sitting enjoying a jalapeño popper

The games on the tv, no ads stoppers

Heard a yell so interesting

Picked up my beer, from where it was resting

Sat up

Abrupt

Almost choked on my popper

And then I became what I hate, an eavesdropper.

I turned down the tv

Rose up from my chair

Saw my glass just sitting there

I downed its beer right quick

Put the empty wet glass up to the thick

Partition and hoped I’d hear something wild

Instead it was yelling at the cat, so quite mild

I learned my lesson, don’t be so rude

Mind your own business, ignore any feuds.

Last stop included a cleanup session
Three kids, a dog in a backseat
Out of the car my words on repeat
Now don’t get dirty, a mile to go
And then them roll down a dirt grass hill.

Winter wonderland, my frozen feet! These ice bound mornings I have to cross that lake and head over to Joe’s field to check on his cows. Three more days til he’s back. I hope my knees last that long. By the way Mildred, his water wheel is completely frozen over so we need to take water for the animals. I can’t wait til spring!

Since this is SoCS, I’ve taken advantage of this in my latest posts, I can say, because it’s my right, that our president and his cabinet, are trying to erase history as I write! Tearing down plaques and photographs while he sits surrounded by gold atrocities, rolling out lies and odd words he can’t pronounce…it is all a nightmare, but REAL😳😱🤪
