Simply Six Minutes

***

Yup, here’s the proof! I knew there would be a backlash, since it all sounded so simple. You can’t fool around with Mother Nature and not expect a problem or three. It might have helped the energy crisis, developing larger animals that only use oats for fuel, but then you’ve caused another problem…giant poop deposits! There has to be a better way.

My apologies 🙄

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

“There’s no cure for a beast like me,” Victor said, a sardonic smile on his face.

Marcia thought he was kidding and laughed, thinking she liked his beasty side. She was so tired of her milk toast husband and his practical daily schedule that only included a five minute conversation during dinner. Then he would go into his study and she wondered just what he did in there since he always kept it locked. He never showed affection and a once a month routine for supposed romance was not satisfying. She wondered how many other arranged marriages ended up like this. Marcia decided to sneak out to the local pub and found Victor, the all too willing participant to fulfill her desires. At their third meeting he told her “There’s no cure for a beast like me,” Victor said, a sardonic smile on his face. She thought she was ready for the beast. Marcia became the next victim in a long line of dissatisfied women.

Tanka Tuesday

This week’s challenge for #Tankatuesday is to create a dodoitsu. The syllabic scheme is 7-7-7-5, and we have to use these “kigo phrases”:

  • #1: “early winter dusk”
  • #2: “chilly north winds blow”
  • #3: “warmth around the hearth”

***

in the early winter dusk

even crows seek sheltered bows

snow drifted nests welcome them

chirps float in response

***

chilly north winds blow loudly

collars turn up and scarves donned

bright fiery flames quiver

drafty fireplace

***

furry creatures surround me

joining warmth around the hearth

hot toddies soothe my sore throat

companions’ love helps

Me after talking to:

Insurance company which takes a bank draft for payment but I’m getting a monthly letter now saying I owe anything from $7plus or my account will be closed . They only communicate online. I put in my bank card and for an $8 charge they took an extra $4 for a company called DOXO!😳🙄I am livid!

Another day another rip-off 😡

MLMM Wordle

Thank you Di for taking over this fun prompt!❤️

Doleful guilt cast a shadow over the family supper. It was no secret the only Christmas wish at the table was the gift of a dog. The pleasing happy smiles of the children had turned into a cloud of sad when their parents said there would absolutely be no pets in their new house. The parents cast a secret look. The next morning the children went first for their stockings and the look on their faces were priceless as a new puppy trotted over wanting to play.

MLMM Wordle #349

SYW 11-27-23

Here are this week’s questions:

1. Do you watch and enjoy reality TV shows? No

2. If you had the power, where would you send anyone you didn’t like? Desert with one cup of water

3. Do you enjoy your own company and what do you do with your ‘Me Time’? I am a widow living alone so no choice really. I read a lot😂

4. If you wanted to change anything about your partner/pet/family what would it be? That my sons lived closer.

Gratitude: We had a rollicking time making small gingerbread houses with real GB that kept falling apart. Only two are still standing😂 We also sang along to eighties music which was fun.

dVerse Poets Quadrille

If you haven’t joined in before, our mission for this prompt is to write a poem of any style that is exactly 44 words, not including the title. Your quadrille must contain one given word or a form of the word. The word I have chosen is sketch.

If I could draw a perfect sketch
All of your essence to collect
You’d probably be circumspect
Because I can be very direct.
Physical form would be the start
Penciling in the biggest part
Of course t’would be your heart
Always visible to impart.
