Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Silvery glass shoes tarnished and cracked as soon as the clock chimed eleven. The gossamer gown seams started to rip apart. The delicate headpiece turned to string and the beautifully coiffed hair turned dirty and brown. The coach of course just now a gourd and the coachmen all scattered. It seemed the fairy godmother had developed a wobble.

they would cover her disaster completely. It probably wouldn’t be fast enough of course, she thought with dread. That impossibly light empty head would probably float til eternity! He deserved this, thinking I would like to vacation on a beach…sand, sun, salt, burning skin and don’t even think about where all that sand ends up! Surfing was his fun time, never mine. I was just lucky he fell and hit his head before anyone saw. He was only unconscious as I swam out pretending a rescue when I suddenly thought it was a perfect opportunity. I just had to fake mouth to mouth while I suffocated him, and remove the cord to the surfboard.

The beach was deserted that late afternoon and soon the high tides would cover up my dearly departed and take him out to sea. Maybe this is a great vacation after all.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

SoCS 12-15-17

Good day! Sun is shining, 40 degrees F, and all shopping, wrapping finished. Ahhhh. Another year “we” decided not to do too much, and of course we did. Anyone else out there do the same? I’m not talking huge expenditures just more than you probably should. The contrast between doing what you know I should and what I want to do is my story quite often. I try to be conservative all year. Maybe that’s why I like to splurge a little on Christmas. And before you give me the lecture “that’s not what Christmas is about”, let me save you the time. I know that, it was indoctrinated early on. I limit myself sometimes to help others. I think that’s what it’s about. All year long doing whatever and however to help someone else. So at Christmas I try to give something unnecessary, but wanted. That’s how I interpret gifting. I have one wish, well besides peace, that a huge freak snowstorm occurs over California to stop the horrible fires. http://lindaghill.com/2017/12/15/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-dec-16-17/

I think it odd, the placement of the safe

Hardly to be opened showing any grace

What items would you store in such a place

Unknown, since the toilet tissue crisis race

Is now over although Covid still exists

I wonder if it holds bathroom cleaning tips?

Or secret books for long restroom trips?

Replaceable garments for an unintentioned slip?

It could be anything but I don’t think it’s lenient

The safe’s placement here is very inconvenient.

Secrets

dVerse Poets

So today, during this busy holiday season, I want to make this prompt easy. Write a poem about giving– or not giving. Be sincere or cynical. Be introspective or expansive. Be serious or frivolous. Just give us a poem.
Please use some form of the word give in your poem or title.

Giving

Family love I have plenty

I rely on it mentally

Speaking or writing, giving love

Realizing my blessing not from above

But surrounded here, a treasure trove

Troubled, sad, tired or glad

A welcomed ear always to be had

The meaning for me of “family”—

Love expressed heartily.

Poetics: It’s a Given

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Does anybody really know what day it is? Last week we skipped the Hodgepodge and I just assumed this week would find us in December, but nope. Still November. Do you wear a watch? Use a paper calendar or strictly electronic? What’s your favorite hour of the day? Why? I no longer wear a watch but have clocks in most rooms. I use my phone’s calendar for reminders. I don’t have a favorite hour.

2. Tell us something about how you celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. Most of my family got together at my daughter’s home which is about five minutes from me. The highlight for me was my great granddaughter getting to be comfortable with me. We are now friends❤️

3. What’s a sound you hate to hear? Fire alarms/sirens

4. Where do you not mind waiting? Probably nowhere😵‍💫I’m an impatient person.

5. I really wish I could see my sons and their families soon.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I hope everyone has at least one wish granted this year.
