#writephoto – Epitaph

The sun is out, time to play

Three made up girls on their way

Symbols of tragedy here to stay

Remembering a fateful day

Happened a long time away

Three girls missing now are found

Symbolic branches on hallowed ground

Playing safe, and finally sound

Sticks for bodies that were found

Now may dance free, not earthbound.

Rory’s at it Again!

Whipped cream and strawberries need no recipe, hopefully served on someone you love.

Brown, black, red, yellow, green, blue, orange, white, pink, no grey please.

About average, toast definitely a meal.

Now it could be anything. I used to be a good cook.

Pasta, ground beef, tomato sauce, eggs, cheese.

I cooked using wine a few times. Drinking is best.

I’m not an exotic food eater. I grew up in Vermont. : ))

I have no idea what umami is.

Beaujolais is medium red in color.

None.

Agave.

If you soak dry beans overnight with a tsp of baking soda, you won’t have the gas problem.

Coffee, asparagus, lots of things seem to go straight in and out of the kidneys.

Unleavened bread?

I haven’t had Ben and Jerry’s for six years, no idea.

Sauerkraut at least.

I don’t eat any fishy smelling or tasting fish, except canned tuna. I add fresh lemon to it.

FOWC: Curious

Curiosity may have killed the cat

But think of tempting cheese on a mouse trap

This enticing piece of treat

Meant to sweep them off their feet

The deadly device they fail to see

Then snap! Done in by a piece of cheese.

I was going to put on a trap pic but they were so gross, I decided, no. We used traps in our old home in the country, but I never looked at or fixed one myself. Something scurrying across the floor is startling, not really scary to me, unless it’s a spider…give me a mouse any day. However, I prefer all creatures stay outside!😉

The Haunted Wordsmith 5-15-19

Where is the sailor

Not home from the sea

In angry waters there he be

Adrift in the dark dank waters there

Brave no longer, feels the scare

Where is my salvation, where is the sun

I feel alone and I’m only one

As the ocean waves cover me

I’ll not return home from the sea.

Word of the Day: Keeper

Shopping…

I was given a ride to the grocery by my grandson, aka my keeper, so my first priority was to exchange the vacuum that had the missing part–no replacement, in other words, the store/manufacturer held a cheap quick sale to get rid of useless product. This results in shopping (arrrgh) again for a new vacuum and it’s been about six weeks without one. No, I’m not putting on a photo of my carpet. I detest shopping for items like this.

Back to yesterday’s venture. Just getting his car out of the shop, it stopped dead in my parking lot, needed fuses, causing him to walk a half mile to Safeway and back after a long day of work. 😏 I digress, but it just added to the pain of the day…I wish Murphy would quit lurking around here.

Since said grandson is of course young and strong, his choice of product differs from mine, such as this 100 pound–jk, container of detergent pods:

Naturally I needed the blue tag to tell me to remove the sticker in order to open it. I AM old, but not decrepit yet…but the huge container should last a year or so! 😳It was stocking time since we were late to shop with the car business, so some items were crowding the aisles and some items missing altogether. However, all’s well that ends well–it was delightful to be able to spend time with my grandson again. He is a treasure and certainly a keeper!

MLMM Photo Challenge – Vampire Woes

She rose from the daybed and floated into the lavatory. Who said I can’t see my image in a mirror? She chuckled as she wiped the remains of last evening’s feasting from her chin. Suddenly she peered closer. What is that on my lips?

The lady had imbibed a bit too much of late and as a result, her victims’ images were now appearing on her lips.

MLMM Wordle #133

You should probably never stop to see what’s lying by the roadside. To do so, might relinquish all embodiment of personal safety and cause personal harm. I have a reason for this warning, as twelve long years ago I committed this act.

It was the premiere of my son’s acting career in the local playhouse, small, but it had a good reputation. Many first time, energetic playwrights offered their creations there. As I drove that evening, I noticed a lump on the side of the road. It was rather large and I thought it might be a deer or person hit by a car or something, so stopped to investigate. I did not seek out a body, but that is what I found.

The lump was breathing, I could determine that only by holding my hand on his chest. Suddenly bloody bubbles started dripping out of his mouth and I thought surely this person was about to die right in front of me. I started to reach for my cel phone to call 911 for help when he grabbed my arm. He opened his eyes and with a pleading look, shook his head no.

This was quite a setback, as my first instinct was to call for help. I had no medical training and it was a dark road with no street lights. Odds were stacked against his survival, but I pushed the 911 anyway and turned on the cel flashlight mode. He let go of my arm and seemed to drift off, bubbles stopped, but his moaning increased.

The 911 people arrived and loaded the lump into the ambulance. What really happened to him I don’t know to this day. The police questioned me, probably thinking I was the one who ran into him with my vehicle, but after my explanation, they let me go, as long as I stayed in the area in case of any further need to question me.

I called the hospital the next day to find the man had indeed been hit by someone when walking in the middle of the dark road. Apparently the driver panicked and fled. Neurotoxins were found in the victim’s bloodstream, explaining why he was wandering on the road in the first place.

I visited him a few days later in the hospital, where he was able to explain. He had become disorientated after his chemotherapy treatment. After a long time of cancer treatment, he was tired of it all. That’s why he didn’t want me to call for help. He had preferred to die right there on the pavement. He never tried to find the person responsible for hitting him, resigning himself to the “blessing in disguise” as he called it.

The man did survive and is still alive today. I feel I did a good deed.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt 5x5x3

I’m a dragon tried and true

I’m hiking this mountain to be with you

My wings are useless in my old age

But my heart beat’s still keeping pace

Finding love is the gift I caught

When you offered me that apricot.

Life is not always as I’d dreamed

Like climbing this mountain

Hoping no one sees

My dragonish ways now rather lean

But coming to you makes me keen

I’m almost there, I can see the peak

It’s you there waiting, the one I seek

A dragon’s life is not all enchantment

If love likely, you’d also search the planet

To experience, live it once again

And not have to think it “might have been”.
